With huge sadness we announce Dickie Davies passed away this morning. So proud of his 20 years of World of Sport, 3 Olympic Games and a brilliant career on the telly. He is survived by a loving wife, two adoring sons, four grandkids and two beloved dogs.

So thanks for the reminder...yes I would probably been battered on social media if it had existed..Never regretted doing it but certain bosses didn’t approve( notably a Mr Birt)...so a bump on the career road, but it was my team having their greatest day and I loved every second.

Alan Parry has always been an underrated commentator.
Stuck behind the great Brian Moore at ITV, it’s a shame he never got a main commentary gig at any network during his career.
Even so, Parry has voiced some iconic football moments and is now in his 50th year behind the mic.

A very happy 90th birthday to Dickie Davies. He'd just been painting the ceiling when this picture was taken! He presented World of Sport until its demise in 1985. He presented other sports coverage, including
