Quinn Ewers stats out of empty formation in the last 5 games. 86% completion percentage 11.8 yards per attempt 62% 1st Down/TD rate 60% 3rd down conversion rate 31% explosive play rate Small sample (10% of pass attempts) but could be a lethal tendency breaker vs OSU. #HookEm

This is a good idea but would require #Texas to break tendency. They don’t flip, shadow or travel their CBs very often. This strategy also requires Texas to increase their rate of man coverage (currently at 17%) or to drastically modify their pattern match rules #HookEm #Horns🤘🏾
I have floated the idea out this week about what Texas will do defensively vs. the Ohio State and their WRs. Basically take a page right out of Bill Belichick's playbook. • Double Jeremiah Smith (WR1) with CB2 (Muhammad) & a S • Cover Emeka Egbuka (WR2) with CB1 (Barron)

Gunnar Helm was targeted 4 times vs Arizona St. & 3 came in the last 5 mins of regulation & 2OT, he caught all 3. Matthew Golden had 10 total targets & 6 came in that time span, he caught 4 of 6. Ryan Wingo had 3 total targets & 2 came in clutch time, he caught both. #HookEm🤘🏾
A wise coach once said, “In clutch time think players not plays.” In the last 5 mins of regulation & double OT Quinn Ewers was 12/15 (including 2pt conversion) for 161 yds & 2 TDs but 9 of those 15 targets were thrown to either Gunner Helm (3) or Matthew Golden (6). #HookEm 🤘🏾

Yesterday’s matchup w/ Arizona St. was arguably #Texas’ worst rushing effort of the season. For the 1st time this season the #Longhorns were unable to generate an explosive play (10+ yds) on the ground. Even vs UGA Texas was able to pop a couple of big runs. #HookEm #Horns🤘🏾

The #Longhorns have become stubbornly effective running wide zone. On avg the #Horns run wide zone 11 times per game (top 10 in P4) but they ran it 23 times vs Clemson. Over the last 4 games 72% of #Texas’ explosive RB runs (10+) have come on a variation of wide zone. #HookEm 🤘🏾
