The

Academy have gotten very positive results from bio-banding - grouping players based off physical maturation as opposed to chronological age. Early research suggests it could help with skill-development, injury mitigation, talent ID, and player retention.

Some graphics from the research we are conducting on Player Transitions in the GAA.
1. 4.6% of U14 went on to play senior intercounty (Clare)
2. Four different routes kerry footballers experienced from minor
3. The different routes current Clare senior players took to senior
A fun game to introduce agility to our U14 squad players, we have extensively looked at change of direction mechanics over the past few months. Now we are integrating what they have learned with the element of decision making.

The ultimate professional, a perfectionist, as well as a top-class person. it's hard to describe how much time and dedication this man put in, but very few will ever match it. Congrats on the retirement

Delighted to get a delivery of 42.5-50kg dbs as well as 10 7.5kg training bars. This will allow us to better introduce our players to barbell training. The jump to 20kg is often too extreme. Now, with 15kg and 7.5kg bars, the transition is much easier.

There are many ways to introduce movement patterns. We teach the lads to 4 fundamentals Squat, push, pull and hinge. Fun way of introducing them to a squat pattern and understand weight distribution is simple frog hops. All boys are pre or circa PhV, 84% to 92% of adult heigh.
Looking for S&C coaches / Sports Scientists interested in taking up internships with Clare GAA for the coming year. We have a multitude of areas to work in from youth athletic development to senior intercounty.

Love this from Sean Quigley on Clare's Kevin Harnett. Great interview from

in the Fermanagh Herald/Gaelic Life. Well worth picking up as Roslea man goes through his career ahead of 100th game.
U16 Hurler progressing really well with load on a hang clean. When adding load, the movement pattern may suffer at times so getting used to to load gradually and getting plenty of reps in to insure the movement pattern ingrained doesn't change is important.
17 year old Jack, a member of the U20 Hurling squad, going through some warm-up sets for his hang cleans as a part of his morning gym session. Focusing on timing and turnover.
Clean technique: Development squad players going through some Olympic weightlifting drills today. We place a large emphasis on introducing players to various training modalities.

U15 morning session in full swing. A big aim is that the players develop a high level of autonomy over the program and understand the basics around setting themselves up for each exercise. Developing adult players who full understand what they're at and why they're doing it.
Develop squad players transitioning to hang snatches with a bar. A big objective of the development squad programme is to make the players literate in as many movements as possible, both on and off the pitch so they can seamlessly progress into more advance programs as adults.
Exciting few days coming up within Clare GAA.
Saturday: Celtic Challenge in the All Ireland Quarter Final
Sunday: Senior footballers in the Munster Final
Monday: U20 Hurlers in the Munster Semi final
Tuesday: Minor Hurlers in the Munster Final.
