But Biden is ahead, so if they stopped counting ballots in Michigan, that would mean Biden won Michigan.
But these are pro-Trump protestors so I'm confused.
#BREAKING
: Large, animated crush of “stop the count” protestors trying to push their way into TCF hall in

where ballots are being counted.
They’re being blocked by guards at the door.
Pizza boxes are pushed against the window to obstruct view. It’s tense.

BREAKING: President's Working Group on Financial Markets' report on stablecoins will call for legislation to limit stablecoin issuance to "insured depositories," i.e. banks and credit unions.
Report coming in 20 minutes.
Things were worse for people in the past so it would be unfair to make them better for people in the future is not an argument that makes sense if you think about it for more than a second.
All of which casts Individual-1’s wild tweets this week about Mueller in a specific context. Not to mention Individual-1’s dangling of a pardon for Manafort.
.
@tedcruz
if you’re serious about a clean bill, then I’m down.
Let’s make a deal.
If we can agree on a bill with no partisan snuck-in clauses, no poison pills, etc - just a straight, clean ban on members of Congress becoming paid lobbyists - then I’ll co-lead the bill with you.
Otting says nobody has been tougher on Wells Fargo.
Warren: "At the OCC? That's a low bar."
Otting: "I find that insulting."
Warren: "Good."
Warren says OCC has not been nearly tough enough on Wells Fargo.
Another important difference between now & ‘08: Back then, the entire industry had given into a big blind spot in their risk assessments — the notion that real estate prices would always go up. This time, there was also bad risk management but not by the entire industry. Just SVB
Sophisticated depositors (those depositing more money than $250K) are meant to assess a bank's business.
Or at least ask that bank if they have ways of providing extra FDIC insurance.
Blaming depositors for bank failure is like placing the blame for medical malpractice on patients because they didn’t do a good enough job shopping for a doctor. Depositors expect the Fed to ensure that banks are safe.
There’s nothing in the results so far that will compel President Trump to behave any differently — or encourage Republicans to defy him. Quite the opposite, in fact.
So, some personal news. After nearly 20 years with
@AmerBanker
, I'm leaving next week for other pastures.
I will miss my terrific colleagues at AB, but I'm excited to try something new.
More details about the new gig will come mid-February.
I’m not asking for a bailout. I’m asking for banking regulators to ensure the integrity of the system. Either deposits in the US are safe or they’re not. If not, look out below. We have a very big problem on our hands.
@mcuban
On PPP, Mark Cuban is pushing an alternative idea. He wants for businesses to be able to overdraw their accounts with banks each day, which in turn are made whole by the Fed.
It's an interesting alternative, and he really wants to engage with bankers on it.
I'm going to say this for nonbankers out there.
Your money really is protected by

hate this company so much right now. Absolutely everyone I've dealt with has had exactly zero interest in helping me.
Tester appears angry by GOP delay of Fed nominees. He directly challenges Toomey.
He says the GOP's suggestions of wrongdoing by Sarah Bloom-Raskin is absurd. Says if GOP is right, the entire regional Fed structure would be corrupt.
@McNarnia
there is a woman on Facebook who says she will adopt this cat tomorrow, just FYI. I have no way of verifying it, but she seems adamant she is doing so.
@BrentSpiner
My money is on Lansbury, Brent. I'm sorry, but I think you're underestimating her. She's feisty and have you seen Manchurian Candidate? A stone cold killer.
You do not get to abuse our reporters or editors.
I don't care if we made a mistake (that we quickly corrected).
I don't care if you don't like the headline.
I don't care what your problem is, really.

I had a fascinating interview with

for the latest episode of Banking with Interest.
He talks about fixing the PPP and rebooting America. (thread)

Just held my final editorial meeting at

I will miss the Banker but it’s in great hands and it will continue to do awesome journalism.

Agency that hated the paper (and me) the most: The Office of Thrift Supervision
I could never convince them I wasn't personally plotting their destruction.

I haven't seen the show, but assuming he did the same thing as in the game, yes!
Hell, yes.
I don't know my answer if I wasn't a dad, but I am a dad so the answer is authoritatively forever yes.
What I hate most about the Streaming Wars is how random it is.
With the exception of Disney, I literally have no way of knowing what bizarre collection of shows and movies will be on what service. And even if I did, they move on and off at random.

: "Unlike Johnson, who stood down for reelection when he realized he had entirely lost control of events, Trump has long operated from the premise that he can win reelection by creating the illusion that he has mastered them."
1) Trump gazed in "horror" at the sea of empty seats at his rally, and raged at aides over it, a new report says.
His aides conceded to one another that he had failed to bend reality to his will.
This could go down as an iconic moment.
This has been a common flaw of reporting by many media in the past couple weeks. "Smaller banks losing deposits" turns out to be a bank with more than $100 billion of assets, which is not "small," and is only "smaller" in comparison to JPM or Wells.
Drives me a bit crazy.
The first line of this clickbait is “Small banks were not supposed to cause this much trouble.” SVB was nearly 1000 times the size of my average size community bank. “Small” banks didn’t cause these issues - large banks that should have known better, should have been managed
Amber Benson on why she created “Slayers: A Buffyverse Story”: “I want to live in the meta world where Charisma Carpenter is Cordelia, the Vampire Slayer. That was the pull for me.”
Like, are you demanding unanimous praise for COCAINE BEAR? I liked the movie fine—as I noted in my review, it is what it said it is—but we’re supposed to pretend it is an unassailable masterpiece?

Of those you know, who is the person that is closest to their public persona? I'm assuming if I ask you who is the most different, it would get you into trouble if you answered.
Whenever someone tweets about a person under 40 dying due to CV, there are replies from folks accusing them of leaving out that the person had underlying health condition
Yeah, I want to know that too but a 28 year old with asthma shouldn't die because they shook someone's hand
The report has three main recommendations for legislation:
1) Legislation should "require stablecoin issuers to be insured depository institutions."
2) Bill should require custodial wallet providers to be subject to "appropriate federal oversight."
Speaking as someone who has extensively covered
@ewarren
, the idea that she is a secret Wall Street shill is weird and so, so wrong.
Nobody on Wall Street believes that and they would laugh at you for suggesting it.
"Warren is not as progressive as Bernie" is a completely legitimate critique. That he is farther left on foreign policy is undeniable.
But the idea that she's a secret Wall Street shill is, frankly, laughable. 1/
Journalism is one of those weird jobs where no matter where you work, you are (usually) treated terribly by the publishing company. And you just come to accept it. And if you ever leave journalism and are treated well, you're almost confused as to what's going on.
"What do you do?"
"I cover the banking industry."
"So you're a banker?"
"No, I'm a journalist. I just co--"
"You must make a lot of money."
"No, that's not--"
"Is now a good time to refinance my house?"
"What do you do?"
"I'm an editor."
"Are you a grammar Nazi?"
"I focus on story structure."
"I'd better watch my grammar!"
"Really, don't."
"Do you wince when people confuse who and whom? Or use two spaces after periods?"
"This scene is cliche. Cut it."

We don't talk enough about Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions, a fantastic X360 era game way before the current multiverse. 4 Spideys. A buddy of mine -- local to the area -- wrote the script.
Penguin has announced major revisions to a new edition of George Orwell's '1984'.
'The novel requires updating, in line with progressive sensibilities', said a consultant for 'Anti-Exclusionary Minds', a group engaged by Penguin to moderate Orwell's critique of totalitarianism.
Is it weird that my first thought on seeing this was of a depressing sci-fi story in which someone at the end of the world keeps watching videos of their kids because they can't face their bleak reality?
Just me then?

What's weirder is that then other people also wrote the same book as Stephenie Meyer. I keep running into multiple books where it's like, "Wait, I know the plot. This is Twilight again."
