At the @thealliance_ai ’s event at the Paris AI Action Summit, @AIatMeta‘s @ylecun is talking not about LLMs but about the NEXT generation of AI models that can understand how the physical world works.

Really excited to be in Paris today celebrating the 10th anniversary of @aiatmeta’s FAIR Paris. @ylecun and @jpineau1 kicking off the discussion by looking back at the impact our AI researchers in Paris have had on the world — as well as some cutting edge work from language understanding to reasoning capability in robotics.

This week I’m excited to spotlight one of @AIatMeta’s Llama Impact Grant recipients, @DanaFarber. I had the opportunity to ask Dr. Ken Kehl, a Medical Oncologist there, how they are using open source AI to improve the process of matching patients with cancer to clinical trials. I am thrilled to share the recipients of our inaugural Llama Impact Grants and Llama Impact Innovation Awards. These grants support organizations using our open source AI models to address major local challenges. Learn more here:

3/ Too many AI conversations miss the role that data has in ensuring global inclusion. We all know inclusion is important, but the reality is that many AI models aren’t trained on diverse data from cultures around the world. That means they won’t be as good as they need to be at serving those cultures. Reassuring to see UN’s AI High Level Advisory Body recommend a greater focus on this issue.

A few things I took away: 1/ I was so inspired by the ways that AI is helping to improve people’s lives - whether that’s enabling healthcare and education in underserved communities or helping governments make resource deployment decisions. This may be the most transformative technology in our lifetimes.
