Saw some of the neighborhood kids out playing yesterday. Told them the weather may cancel some school this week. They immediately took a vote and unanimously declared me their favorite meteorologist of all time. That's going on my resume.
2 years from today, April 8, 2024 will be a total solar eclipse. The path of totality will pass right through N TX. I'm already getting questions about whether we'll have clouds or not.

A cut in that was supposed to only be on our digital channel ended up covering the end of Sunday Night Football. I want to apologize for this mess up. It was not our intention to ruin the end of the game for you. Many of you are pissed and I don't blame you. I'm angry too.
This week marks 10 years at NBC 5! In that time I've experienced EF 4 tornadoes, floods, droughts, winter storms, power outages, not to mention all the good things. Thanks for being there with me on this journey.
The first Nebraska game I get to watch with my grandson. He doesn’t care that it wasn’t a good game and frankly, I don’t either. Just fun to get to spend time with him.
My car battery died today while on an errand in Trophy Club. Tried to jump it myself but was unsuccessful. Trophy Club police officer Joshua Hernandez drove by and saw I needed assistance. He jump started my car and got me on my way. Thank you officer Hernandez!
What to do on Christmas Eve when temps are above 80 and it feels like October? Have a peppermint milk shake from

Future tweet....the heaviest of the snow and sleet will occur overnight into the morning rush hour. Wind chills will be below zero and travel will be difficult......I can dream can't I?
Who remembers 43 years ago today and yesterday? If you were in DFW you endured back to back 113 degree days on June 26 & 27, 1980. DFW's all-time record highs. In comparison, we hit 102 today.
A long range model paints a needed picture for Texas for early 2024. It shows above normal precip which is indicative of an El Nino winter pattern. We'll see.
The 24 hour rainfall at DFW airport is 9.02" as of 12:10 pm making it second highest on record. Highest 24 hour rainfall is 9.57" in September 1932.

The likelihood of freezing rain or freezing drizzle Monday and Tuesday now includes the DFW area into parts of Central Texas. Monday will bring freezing drizzle, while a steadier freezing rain will fall Monday night and Tuesday. Travel will be impacted. Be aware!
Temps are running below what models were predicting by 5-10 degrees. As moisture begins to fall into this cold air mass, roads will become slick. Freezing drizzle Monday with a steadier freezing rain Monday night and Tuesday.
Ok, so it's not a selfie, but this is where I would be if I was at home during a tornado warning or a bad storm. Small, interior bathroom. What about you?

My Valentine made her scrumptious peanut butter chocolate chip cookie for me. Yeah, one big cookie! That’s gonna take a BIG glass of milk cuz I’m a dunker 😆
I see a pattern change coming! The heat dome will be over us this week with record heat likely Thursday and Friday. The pattern changes early next week as the heat dome breaks down and moves away. That means cooler air and a chance of rain! Forecast at
I think the biggest mistake people make when it comes to weather is not being aware. If you are aware that severe weather is possible in your area today, you're ahead of many folks. Being aware means you can be prepared. Situational awareness is where it's at.
One year from today will be a total solar eclipse that passes right through North Texas! This will be a huge event. Totality will be from 1:40 pm to 1:44 pm in DFW. If only the clouds will stay away....
Great example of an Asperitas cloud, formerly known as Asperatus Undulatis clouds. This type of cloud was officially added to the International Cloud Atlas in 2017. This pic taken in Frisco this morning.

CORRECTION....it's actually been FOUR Mondays in a row with strong to severe storms in N TX. Next Monday could make number 5. See the risk area already highlighted.
If you need something to cheer you up, take a look at what happened last year. The summer was blazing hot and quite dry. Then on a dime, the triple digits stopped and the rain started. Our weather can and will change. Just hang in there!
