That is an extremely narrow view. Certain things should be crimes but the penalty shouldn't be so severe as to cause loss of livelihood through incarceration. Speeding is an example. Few companies will let you keep your job if you spend time (in jail) unable to work.

Don't forget, as part of the indictment, the prosecution has to provide all the evidence used to secure the indictment. Also, Trumps own lawyer (Lauro) went on tv and said that they don't need time to prepare because he's innocent. If he's not worried, it's not rushed.
