When parents love Jesus and walk with Him (imperfectly), 82% of their children walk in faith a lifetime. How will you use your time today?

I would love to see an arena filled with teenagers—singing at the top of their lungs: “All hail the power of Jesus name let angels prostrate fall Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all!”

Scenario 1 Jesus loves me so much, He redeemed me so we can be all snuggie-wuggie. Scenario 2 King Jesus loves me so much, He redeemed me into his kingdom—so I can join Him in bringing that kingdom on earth—an immense privilege! Life is not about us. It’s about Him.

Student Pastor, speaking to the senior adult class: “I want to invite you to —live a life with eternal consequences —as you join me in raising up a young generation to change the world. I can give each of you a role that fits your life and that will make a difference.”

My wife and I renewed our vows in front of the students on a Wed night. Dressed up. Candles. Senior pastor officiated. Joyful kisses. Your students called to marriage will do so—or experience a lifetime of shallow, impure, and painful “relationships.” Your modeling matters.

If you’re a married student pastor, speak as a couple this Wed night. Describe the depth of your love. Let the students see the sparkle of romance. Why? Students have witnessed so many broken or loveless marriages—they are abandoning God’s design for romance and marriage.

We need this Sunday AM sermon: 1. The Great Commission begins with launching the children of the church into lifetime faith. 2. We are doing poorly at this. 3. According to Scripture, here are the changes our entire church needs to make to move the needle on #1.

I sometimes ask myself: If my wife and son died, I was fired, my house burned to ashes, and I had Stage 4 cancer … Could I kneel and pray: “King Jesus, I cannot understand all you are doing. But I know you do. I choose to trust you and declare you are faithful.” Could you?

What if the senior pastor took 10 minutes with the students on a Wednesday night? Pastor: “This Sunday morning I’m going to preach on _____. What are some ways I can make that topic more interesting to you—and more helpful in your life?” Then watch students at sermon time.

Five minutes before Sunday AM worship: What if your older teenagers surrounded the senior pastor, put their hands on him, and briefly prayed Korean style (out loud, simultaneously). -How would that impact the pastor? -How would that impact the congregation?

Many adults wanting career advancement—manipulate teenagers as the means to that end. (Fast food managers, coaches, etc.) Are you radically different? Do you sacrificially invest in teenagers— For the glory of King Jesus? For their well being rather than yours?

Co-teaching with Shane Pruitt @SWBTS is a huge joy. Wonderful to have him live in class yesterday. The students joined me in praying over him, due to the expanding platform God has entrusted to him.

Senior pastors are blessed as elders surround them with counsel, support, and accountability. What if student pastors had 3 or 4 adults who served a similar role? —gently helped him with blind spots —shared feedback from parents & students —held up his arms during hard days

When I was a child, believing family members each put their tithe in offering envelopes. Each handed in those envelopes to their Bible teachers. An entire generation of children easily became adult tithers. In your church, how do children and students hand in their tithe?

Student Pastors: Ministries don’t become more evangelistic than YOU are. Simple but powerful idea: 1. Choose a weekly day and time you will share your faith. Maybe a Mon, Tues, or Thurs at 3:45 pm. 2. Set a repeating alarm to remind you. 3. Reject Satan’s excuses to skip.

Does your staff meet around a conference table? What if the chair at the head of the table were left empty—reserved for your true Leader? What if the name plate said King Jesus? During hard discussions, what if eyes turned to Him and you prayed: “What do You want us to do?”

Tell the Teenagers: Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely. God has absolute power. God is absolutely good. He is the one exception. You can trust Him absolutely.

David Bryant is my primary mentor. He, more than anyone I know, has called the church to see, worship, and follow King Jesus, exalted on the right-hand throne. We will pray as he begins lung surgery, 10:00 am CST, 2/12. Join us:

I scan an app that networks hundreds of people who live around me. Some posts concern lost pets, etc. . . But many posts allow you to look into people’s souls. Most are mad, depressed, frightened, drowning in broken relationships . . . We have the Answer. And we are silent.

Imagine a DNow service. Music is over. Instead of preaching, I run a loud shop vacuum at center stage for 30 minutes. Then the altar call. What spiritual impact would you expect to see with the students? If I preach while embracing my secret sin, the answer is the same.
