Once upon a time we had a young talent named
@DivockOrigi
who’s dream was to become a professional player one day and guess what ? He became a
@LFC
legend 👊🏽💙
You can have 30 licenses to coach and show off with it but if you are not able to bring it over to the boys on the pitch all your papers are worthless 😉☝🏽☝🏽
@youthdevelopment
For people interested in the way we develop in genk for 20y now☝🏽
Under 7s play 5v5
Under 8s play 5v5
Under 9s play 5v5
Under 10s play 8v8
Under 11s play 8v8
Under 12s play 8v8
Under 13s up play 11v11
For youth coaches ☝🏽 don’t forget if you take away dribbling from a kid at a young age it will be difficult to tell him to dribble he’s opponent at a older age so let him dribble and be creative at a young age and teach him to reduce it when he’s older and show him options ⚽️⚽️
For youth coaches ☝🏽 first develop kids technically so they get comfortable on the ball before working on tactics and working on defending ☝🏽without decent feet and 🧠 you will get nowhere ⚽️⚽️
For Youth coaches ☝🏽 never take away game time or use excuses for not playing underdeveloped kids just to win games ! this is one of the biggest and dumbest things to do in player development ⚽️⚽️👊🏽
Answer to some coaches ☝🏽 in genk we develop players in 3 positions so they will have a plan A ,B ,C to hopefully make it in the first team and to create chaos for the opponent in a game so they can move from position to position as long as all positions are occupied ☝🏽👀⚽️
Tactics are very important but don’t forget you need technical skills and players that can dominate the opponent in 1vs1s to make the difference ☝🏽☝🏽 ⚽️⚽️
A lot of coaches would scream at this player to play simple but we in krc genk encourage them to be creative and try things we practice 👊🏽 development 💙
A big problem in youth development is that coaches focus to much in what’s good for them instead of thinking about what’s good for the kids to get better ☝🏽☝🏽
Kids at a young age 6-11 y need to play pure football !So let them dribble and let them play FUTSAL and streetfootball !! They will learn more from that then from all the new ideas and equipment these days 🤦🏽♂️! It’s cheaper and better ⚽️⚽️👊🏽
I am 100% sure there are many grassroots coaches with more quality and potential then some elite coaches with lots of licenses so for those coaches keep believing in yourself because one day it will pay off 👊🏽👍🏽
in the KRC Genk academy at the moment a average 2-4 players are playing a year up so that means teams maybe will lose points but there will be no space for frustrated coaches but there will be place for development and learning moments for players and coaches 😉☝🏽💙⚽️⚽️
Youth coaches think football is PlayStation so they start screaming at kids like it’s all so easy 👀 show them teach them guys screaming at them is not the solution so let them make mistakes ⚽️⚽️⚽️
@youthdevelopment
👊🏽
This is a perfect example why I do lots of work with turns and the sole of the foot with the boys in genk so they can use it in the game when opponents don’t expect it 👊🏽⚽️ this is the result ☝🏽
For coaches ☝🏽 a big key 🔑 in youth development is being patient with physically underdeveloped players !! Give them the time to grow and never blame them when you lose a game 👊🏽⚽️⚽️
It’s very simple ☝🏽 the best players have street in them 🤷🏽♂️ you can take them out of the street but you will never take the street out of them 👊🏽⚽️ no books needed just pure football 🤷🏽♂️but first you need to understand street ⚽️
Youth coaches ☝🏽you don’t need to put yourself in the spotlights to show you are a good coach ! Just make the kids better in every single area . if you do that for sure people will recognise your work and you will be rewarded in a beautiful way 😉⚽️⚽️
For coaches ☝🏽 if you don’t look and work on the details in a session you are just training to train don’t forget Litle details make the difference in a game 👊🏽👊🏽⚽️⚽️
If you want to play dominant football you need to make sure your players are good and comfortable on the ball both feet so you need to train it ☝🏾 you will be master of the ball by training ballmastery 👊🏽⚽️
For youth coaches ☝🏽Playing football is all about making good decisions but please don’t say you train decision making !! You need to train options so they can make the good decision . there are more decisions the kid can make !! The coach is not always right 🤷🏽♂️😉
For youth coaches ☝🏽 don’t forget if you want to create overloads on the pitch and you want them to be good on the ball you need some players who can dominate the opponent with a 1/1 ☝🏽so train them to dominate the opponent and train ball mastery + 1v1s 👊🏽⚽️⚽️
For youth coaches ☝🏽instead of telling kids NOT to use the sole of the foot TEACH them 👊🏽I Remember the day Marcello did this it went viral here our Litle Mo doing it at the age of 10 y old and giving the assist 👊🏽
Lots of youth coaches hear Pep Guardiola talk in a interview and try to speak the same language to the young kids they train ! Very important is first to know what he’s talking about before trying to do the same 😅☝🏽
You don’t need millions $$$ to have your country develop top class players you just need good and unselfish youth coaches that will do everything they can to help develop the kids ☝🏽
@youthdevelopment
In the academy of krc genk we encourage the players in games to play the teammates in with lots of pressure from the opponent in the back so they need to find solutions to get or play out of pressure and yes they will make mistakes but that’s development ☝🏽teach find the details
Lots of coaches look at what players can’t do instead of looking what a player can do ☝🏽 instead of telling them all the things they did wrong show them more things they did well 👊🏽⚽️⚽️ development ☝🏽
For youth coaches ☝🏽 if you don’t let kids have fun and being creative during games or sessions you will never get to see the full potential and quality they really have ⚽️⚽️
For youth coaches ☝🏽 you can train skills and position games but if the players don’t have a good first touch it’s worthless so don’t forget to train it all 🙏🏽
For youth coaches ☝🏽 you will see kids at a very young age being very very good but don’t make them stars and tell them and others they will be 100% Professionnels one day because a talent at the age of 10-13 is not always a talent at the age of 16 up ☝🏽
For youth coaches ☝🏽if you dont encourage players to take players on and beat them in 1v1s you won’t create difference makers ⚽️⚽️ you need those players 👊🏽
For Youth coaches ☝🏽 the key to make kids better is repetitions both feet and don’t forget the 1/1s but all with energy and good speed + most important positive coaching ☝🏽👊🏽
Youth Academy’s need to have a clear vision and philosophy in regards of player development ! If youth coaches don’t agree to put kids on the first place they don’t deserve and belong there 👊🏽⚽️⚽️
If you want your players to be good in small spaces =they need to be technically very good =so they can execute =so they need to be comfortable on the ball =so they need to have fast feet = BALL MASTERY ALWAYS ⚽️⚽️👊🏽
Another historical day for the club by starting a professional game with probably the youngest team ever starting a professional game in Belgium with 2 15y old kids starting in a average 17,5 y old team , 55’ with 10 players and a fantastic ass from a 15 old and take 3 p ⚽️💙
It’s awful to see youth coaches loving themselves more then the kids they train 👎🏽 it’s not about you but all about the kids 😉 put your ego away and they will love and learn from you ☝🏽
Just a few players I was lucky enough to work with and all of them had lots and lots of ball mastery and lots of isolated training sessions 😂 🤷🏽♂️⚽️⚽️ not that bad krc genk 👊🏽
This is a skill I am giving in genk already for over 15y now !!
@MartinOdegaard1
did this in a session and went viral 👀 this is a u11 at genk doing it 👊🏽
Unbelievable that you still see youth coaches screaming like crazy at kids when they make mistakes on the pitch wile they even can’t kick a ball ⚽️ crazy to see 🤦🏽♂️ let them make mistakes as long as they learn from it ☝🏽
For coaches ☝🏽 it’s not the amount of hours you work with players but the amount af quality and detail work you’ll put in them that will make the difference ⚽️⚽️👊🏽
A turn in the box and lots of repetitions in the sessions with
@CyrielDessers
Hard work will always pay off if you just believe in it 👊🏽👊🏽 welcome back to the most beautiful club 💙
Good luck big guy Paulie Onuachu at
@SouthamptonFC
what a great 3 y working together thank you 💙🙏🏽 going to miss you but you deserved it
@PaulOnuachu
👊🏽😘
So typical for some twitter coaches 🤷🏽♂️ they never developed any players and just talk talk talk like they know it all 😅 they try to make money just with talking and using the name of a big club or coach but really have no clue what development and proper sessions are all about🤷🏽♂️
For youth coaches ☝🏽 one of the biggest things you need to work on in developing players is discipline and work ethic and teach the kids to be patient and humble but don’t forget to do the same as a coach ☝🏽⚽️👀 not to many coaches have that quality 👊🏽
Some players have pure football so coaches please 🙏🏽 don’t take it out of him because you have read something in a book 📖please work with him and let him be pure 🙏🏽⚽️
For youth coaches ☝🏽don’t forget if you want to teach the kids (scanning) don’t forget if they have bad feet 🦶 scanning is would be worthless so train the total package and teach them to be comfortable on the ball first ;)
People often ask me what I really didn’t like to see in the USA 🇺🇸 ⚽️⚽️ANSWER ☝🏽coaches coaching with sunglasses 😎 and a coffee ☕️ in the hand 🤷🏽♂️🛑🛑🛑🙈not done in Europe
Giving kids good quality sessions is way more important than being happy to have a C,B or A license and giving pore quality sessions ⚽️ kids don’t see paper ⚽️⚽️👊🏽
Coaches ☝🏽 if you encourage and give positive coaching to the players they will run thru a wall for you but if you just yell and scream at them they will make sure you run with your head against that same wall and you will not succeed to get thru it all about positive coaching ⚽️
Youth development in 🇧🇪 Krc Genk 💙 we always challenge our kids to play against the best opponents in Belgium and big tournaments and friendly games against the strongest academy’s in the world and we start at a the age of 8y old ! To answer the lots of DM’s I received ☝🏽
For youth coaches ☝🏽if you want to develop in a good way you need to build kids full with confidence and courage and tell them never to stop dreaming because everything is possible 🙏🏽⚽️⚽️⚽️
Youth coaches don’t forget kids are like sponges 🧽 they absorb allot the good things and BAD things so take care of what you tell and show them!! But don’t forget kids are not ROBOTS 🤖⚽️⚽️⚽️
#youthdevelopment
Don’t really understand why people need to do big studies about players (scanning) especially midfielders because they have pressure coming from all sides !! players scan to look for spaces to have more time to execute ! Don’t make it harder then it is 🤷🏽♂️
