Lovely to catch up with Year 6 today when they finally had the chance to meet up and celebrate the end of an era! Can't wait to hear how they all get on in the coming weeks...
Mixed emotions at Rhws Primary. Sad to say goodbye to our wonderful children without being able to offer real reassurance. But mainly pride at how amazing the whole school community have been throughout a tough week. Gates are closed but we are still here for you..

Today we said farewell to our very own Mr Morris! He’s off to start new adventures in his retirement. Mr Morris has been a part of the Rhws family for many years: as a parent, LSA and then teacher! We’ll miss you Mr Morris, but wish you every happiness in your next chapter. 💙
It was a tough call as all submissions were very impressive, but we scratched our heads as to how this was managed with a four legged friend! Here’s our ‘recreating art’ winner.... Congratulations!
A huge well done to Miss Bibey and Mrs Fry for achieving their diplomas in children’s trauma & mental health and becoming TIS practitioners! Very well deserved 👏👏👏👏
Saying goodbye to this wonderful group of leavers was tough, but they are more than ready for the new adventures that lie ahead! Farewell Year 6 - go and show the world what you are made of!! 👏👏👏
Well it seems so long ago but in May Miss Duncan asked the children to draw a picture of the Queen, we wrote a letter and sent the Queen all the pictures we had made to celebrate her Jubilee.
We shared some exciting news today with the children! The Queen wrote back. 😁👸
Happy 100th Birthday Colonel Tom!!! Mrs Davenport and her troops have been busy decorating the school gates in honour of your birthday and our wonderful NHS! We salute you all 🌈
A big thank you to our local Tesco for donating popcorn for our Halloween 👻 🎃 film treat

What a difference a day makes. Came back yesterday to find that our much loved Rangers area had been trashed and vandalised over the holidays. Today we learn that the community has raised over £1500 overnight to help us rebuild! Thank you Rhoose 🙏
Huge congratulations to our very own Miss Toshack for receiving a 'Highly Commended' award from the Cardiff and Vale Parents Federation for her work to support children with learning disabilities and their families. Well deserved!

We said goodbye to this amazing bunch today! We will miss you so much and feel robbed of a full year of your humour, laughter, creativity, resilience and kindness. Don’t forget the online Leavers’ Assembly @ 10am on Monday!
Couldn’t be prouder of these three! They represented Rhws Primary brilliantly at the rural Vale public speaking competition. Placed overall runner up! Many congratulations. Thanks to
@stbridesprimary
and
@SpeakingUnion
for hosting a great event.
I can’t tell you how proud I am of this team. They played some excellent football and showed great sportsmanship, always thanking the officials but more importantly they approach everything as a team, National Primary Five winners ⚽️❤️ Thank you to the Welsh Schools FA
In partnership with
@StAthanPrimary
we have been lucky enough to secure funding to support some of our families with food shopping in the coming weeks! First bags are out for delivery....
Amazing news in Year 4. Not one, but two of our boys have been signed by Cardiff City FC again this year. Only a handful of contracts are given out each year so this is very special. To top it off, the team played Man Utd away on Saturday and won! Da iawn Jackson and Finley ⭐️⚽️
Huge thanks to the parents that were able to come and climb with their children... We couldn’t have done it without you. Please send us your photos! Either mention us in the tweet or use the hashtag

Miss Toshack and Mr Worth did a trial run of Pen-y-Fan over the weekend (children included!) These are the stunning views that await the juniors in the coming weeks for our sponsored challenge!

What a crazy week! A huge thank you to our fantastic staff for successfully launching our new remote learning provision. Well done to all our children and parents for top notch engagement and pushing through any technical issues. Working together, the only way is up!
Today we said goodbye to some certified Rhws 'legends' who have played a huge part in our children's lives over the years. Farewell Mrs Hale, Mr Williams, Mrs Hunt, Mrs Mallows, Miss Duncan and Mrs O'Callaghan. Good luck in your new adventures - you'll be sorely missed!
Fantastic Christmas lunch service today from the kitchen team and midday supervisors! 270 delicious festive meals served! Thank you ladies 🙏

As we prepare for a full return to school, it's important we challenge the current media narrative of 'catch up' and 'lost learning.' We will all be starting from a new line in the sand but need to recognise what has been achieved. A 'Social Summer' awaits us. Details to follow.
Year 6 have had an amazing time in Condover making memories and challenging themselves! They’ve done us proud! Huge thanks to Mrs Gardner, Mrs Jones, Miss Williams, Mrs O’Grady and Mrs Thomas for leaving their own loved ones behind for a week to make this happen!! 🙏🏻
What an absolute joy to see so many happy, excited faces today... Resilient, determined and eager to get on with their learning, they are an absolute credit to you and your lockdown efforts! Thank you 🙏
A big shout out to all our amazing parents! You and your children are doing a fantastic job with online learning. I have been super impressed and take my hat off to you all! It can’t be easy working from home whilst teaching your child but the standard of work is fantastic!!👏👏
Delighted to announce, the bid was successful!! Thanks to the presentation skills and research undertaken by our Senedd members, feasibility studies for a fully funded solar panel installation will commence in the new year! Immensely proud of these pupils 👏👏👏☀️🌎
So very proud of the members of our School Senedd who gave a presentation to a panel from Centrico today as part of a bid for solar panel funding.

Joint second place! The children were recognised for a wide-ranging and forward thinking inquiry. Proud teacher moment. Congratulations to the pupils of Year 5! Llongyfarchiadau! 🥳🤩
An absolute joy to see so many of our pupils over the course of this week! They literally filled the school with happiness and made us hopeful for better times to come. Roll on next week when we get to do it all again...
Y5 have been fantastic. They are a brilliant bunch, making their families very proud! We all slept well, breakfast was delicious and we’ve arrived at Y Senedd for our tour. 🏴
All of our fabulous Y6’s are home safe. Thank you to Mrs Gardner, Mrs Jones, Mrs O’Grady, Ms Thomas and Ms Williams for all of their hard work this week. 😍 We hope you all enjoy a restful weekend.
While we always celebrate achievements of the children out of school, we often forget staff! Mrs O’Grady has been busy completing her diploma in mindfulness for children (in her own time!) - We are proud to announce she passed with distinction!

Llongyfarchiadau! Congratulations to our 2020 bard. Everybody put an enormous effort into their Eisteddfod stories but 'Venus the Fox' was our very worthy winner.
Congratulations from the weekend to the wonderfully talented Miss Bibey, Masked Singer champion 2020, who made us fall in love with a monkey!❤️Huge well done to everyone involved! Now we're looking forward to going back to school 😀
