I feel like I’m changing the subject when everyone’s so invested in the convo (Alaa), but baba has a trial hearing tomorrow. Tomorrow also marks 4 yrs since he was arrested. Dawood was 3yo when his father was taken from him, he’s now 7 and he said it: he needs baba. We all do.

This is the 3rd #FathersDay without baba. 949 full days. He was abducted from our house in the middle of the night on November 14, 2018. Forcibly disappeared for 9 months, and now faces endless pre-trial renewals while residing in al-Qanater prison in Egypt for political charges.

Going to al-Qanater prison tomorrow to visit my dad. I will finally get to hug him for the first time in 3 years, as they’ve uninstalled the bars they put between prisoners and visitors during COVID. Tonight I’m an excited little girl eager to see her dad. :).

Same. Last month marked 5 years since my father was arrested. 1847 days today. Sisi is the cause of our pain and Gazans alike.
Not been posting much about my father in the last 2 months but i’m reminded our struggles are connected. Palestinians would have had better allies without dictators in power & their supporters in prison. It’s been 281 days since he’s been unlawfully detained & we last spoke.

2 years ago yday, my father finally surfaced after 265 days of enforced disappearance. He’s been in pre-trial detention since then. Per Egyptian law, 2 yrs is the max amount of time allowed for remand, if they can’t prove him guilty (which is so) he must be released.
Day 265 - we finally saw him.

ساعات بحس إن أنا مش مصدقة إن محمد مرسي مات. لما معتقل يقعد بالسنين معزول انفرادي ومقطوع عنه أي تواصل من أي شكل هو مبيبقاش عايش أصلا، الفرق دلوقتي إن روحه طلعت وجسمه اتدفن؟ حتى جنازته اتمنعت ومشفناهاش. الزمن توقف مع اعتقاله وحبسه. ربنا يرحمه ويغفرله ويتقبل منه ويتجاوز عنه.

قد ايه الواحد اللي له أهل محبوس بينفصل عن بقية أهله لما بيسافر. تجربة السجن فيها كم تفاصيل وقهر ومسؤولية وظلم مش بنقدر نعيشها واحنا بعيد مهما كان درجة الاتصال والتواصل مع العائلة في مصر. ادعوا لأمي كتير لأن أولادها الكبار كلهم سافروا والحمل عليها تقيل اوي. .

بعد مرور أكتر من شهر على إتمام سنتين الحبس الاحتياطي (قانونيًا يجب إخلاء سبيله أو النظر في قضيته) ومرور تقريبا شهرين على آخر جلسة عرض على النيابة (قانونيًا يسقط حبسه لو تجاوز الـ٤٥ يوم بدون جلسة). بابا عنده جلسة بكرة. دعواتكم!.

was going through my old pictures and found this one from 2016. I love driving, but I absolutely loved driving babas car. he is my favorite person in the world, and the car held SO many memories. we recently sold the car, but baba is still my hero.

One thing I learned from years of constant defeat as a young Egyptian, is how to control hope, evaluate when it’s most harmful to be hopeful, and defend myself against it. It’s something outsiders don’t understand when they see me so neutral at certain occasions. Hope = hurt.

العائلة مجتمعة، في شاليه عالبحر، بناّم بدري على فيلم بنشوفه سوا علشان نصحى بدري، بس برضو أنا آخر واحدة بتصحى، بطلع من الأوضة عليهم متجمعين على سفرة الفطار من إيد جدو، "صباح الخير"، كله يرد في صوت واحد "أهلااااااااا" أو "هييييه رحمة صحيت". دفا ونعمة🥰.

مش بقدر استوعب ازاي ناس متعلمة ومثقفة ودماغهم نظيفة فعلا بيصدقوا حكايات من إنتاج الدولة المصرية وبيقتنعوا بالتزييف والتحوير اللي بيبقى موجود في الإعلام أو المسلسلات. حتى لو الكلام يبدو منطقي ومقنع (ودي الحبكة اللي فيها شطارة) بس مفروض تنقي مصادر معلوماتك عالأقل،تلفزيون مصري؟ بجد؟.

My father and his inmates in al-Qanater prison have been suffering from COVID symptoms for a couple of days. The prison authorities are dismissing their complaints, hence no tests are conducted nor professional help offered, only *selling* them basic medications.

نشوة الطموح والأحلام الكبيرة اللي كانت عند الواحد أيام نشأته خلته دلوقتي دخل مرحلة الbare minimum وتسكيت الضمير. أبغض كل شيء مثالي والا أسعى للكمال في أي شيء -بطريقة مش صح أحيانًا- وكأني أتقرب إلى الله بكوني خطاءة. مش مهتمة بالمنافسة والإرادة للتحسن ضعيفة لا تسمن ولا تغني من جوع.
