-Why are ghosts so popular?
-Why is there a 'paranormal community'?
-Does the paranormal offer a way to be 'religious'...without being religious?'
I share my thoughts in this new Bonus Video

In 1976 the Viewmaster toy company released a stereoscopic depiction of Bran Stoker’s Dracula across 3 discs/ reels. Here are all the pictures showcasing some fantastic dioramas of the famous vampire tale.

If you’re lonely and want a new friend, then buy this Vintage Ventriloquist Dummy from Leeds, UK. It's on Facebook Marketplace as we speak. Note: If you don't buy it, it'll come to your house anyway, just not as a friend.
In 1986 UK radio DJ Dave Lee Travis released a strange book where he photographed celebrity women illustrating their phobias in really literal ways. Here’s a thread showcasing some of the weirdest ones…
‘Ghosts on a Tree’ by Austrian painter Franz Sedlacek, 1933. As a soldier in 1945 Sedlacek went missing amidst the chaos World War Two. He was never seen again.
Here’s my list of ‘things that often happen in movies, yet rarely (if ever) happen in real life.’

Add any others you think of.
Conversations into mirrors (so director can show both faces at the same time, in the same shot).
A pic doing the rounds today: Kate Middleton's apparently wearing the same dress Rosemary Woodhouse has in

. You know...that film about a woman being impregnated by the Satan, to further the career of her husband. We need to check it's eyes!

These sombre shots of the UK countryside might be cursed...cos I can’t stop looking at them. By Tina Dodd 1) Towards Charterhouse 2) Towards Tynings II 3) Up On Mendip 3) Towards Tynings
‘My 7yr old son says he sees this in on his closet ceiling at night. I had to nail a blanket up to hide wear he was lurking. Son said last night he still could see just his one eye. I'm going to have my wife sage the whole house. Any more suggestions?’ (from Reddit).
Personal Post: For the last few months I’ve been having some investigations into a possible benign tumour in my head. Being a bit of a health anxiety guy, the thought wasn’t fun. But now my MRI results are back and all is well, nothing sinister! And I’m super happy about it.
Four examples of 1970s science fiction novel art by Mariella Anderlini (who used the pseudonym Allison, to avoid damaging her career as a professional painter). From 1969 to 1988 she produced many strange and beautiful book covers mainly for the Italian publisher Libra Editrice.
Woohoo, it’s arrived! 18 months of wild and wonderful research (into why humans have a morbid streak) has now become my first ever hardback!

A promo shot for a vintage doll with alternative ‘sad face’ moulded to the back. Hours of fun. Either that or it’s a real doll that comes with a free malevolent, twin-demon who only manifests in mirrors.
Well I thought the first episode of
#Dracula
was great. Funny, aggressive, scary, gross and filled with clever reflections on the original story. Interesting faith angle too. And that

homage shot! Congrats

Do you like vintage paranormal documentaries from the 70s? Then here's a handy cover reference for the spooky docs of that era. Thanks to
@paulcorupe
for compiling these for Letterboxd.

PS: Some are streaming on Amazon Prime now!
When I was growing up, I would occasionally have a moment of revelation that ‘this experience is happening right NOW.’ Like a sudden awareness of being fully conscious everything around me. It wasn’t good or bad. Just interesting. Was anybody else a weirdo like me?
I'm on this week's

The 17th century was a time of great spiritual upheaval. Many believed the world was filled with grim omens. Like those on the banks of the Thames River in London, who claimed to see a witch walking across the water. (Source: Witchfinders, Malcolm Gaskill, p22)

During a fun weekend with friends in

. I couldn't get there earlier, so went up alone. It's one of the most stunning and mystical things I've seen. The mist, the sunset, the frost, the hovering bird. Here are pictures I took as a thread.
Just watched the Berkshire UFO episode of

on Netflix. Think what you like, but the credibility of this long string of eyewitnesses spooked me.
I've been writing for the

This my relieved face. I had to go to hospital today for an urgent appointment, and the letter said the swiftness was just in case I had cancer. Was told today that I haven’t and all is fine. Kinda scary, but really relieved and feeling thankful.

That 1976 paranormal discussion show I posted yesterday from Thames TV. I noticed a super creepy woman in the audience, just staring out. Find her at 15mins.
Regardless of your politics, proudly shouting that you have absolutely no sympathy for someone who just lost their job, under impossible pressures, or insisting that the tears they shed are fake and self-seeking, feels to me, depressingly unkind.
Whitby is trending! A good excuse to share some photographs I took there during my research trip in 2016, for my book defending morbid curiosity (The Frighteners). Beautiful place.
Just finished the audiobook of
