Layers - User Layer - Application e.g. out of box solutions - Optimization (?) - Control and flow of the prompt - Constraints e.g. validation, rules - The Prompt itself - The neural network (Note that the old "Layer 8 joke" is not possible anymore, its layer 7 now)

These abstraction layers help understand tooling and positioning of tools, helping developers to decide. But right now, its a little bit complicated and mixed. Other would probably disagree and throw this complexity out of the window (e.g.

From my experience: Just a few instruction can greatly alter the output. And it might be just "Programming for LLMs". Prompt Engineering will stay.
