It took me a few years to realize how much I missed Kanpur. I miss Ahmedabad quite a bit on some days — this realization happened much sooner. I finally felt like I have some handle on life after a period of darkness. Still hate the dengue and dog bite bit tho!

I watched The Storyteller recently and the plot involves a cat, fish, Kolkata and Vastrapur in Ahmedabad — so personal. Maybe I should take that Howrah to Ahmedabad train one of these days.

I used to get confused about the difference between words such as chivalry, cavalry etc when I first started learning English. It’s so easy to look up stuff now. I used to refer to this one Bengali to English dictionary called Samsad. It had a very beautiful book binding.
Chivalry has become a lost art. If you're a single guy, you can very easily stand out by being chivalrous. Restore the art. Brand yourself a restoration artist. Send me thanks and your wedding invite later.

The 1 time (among others) I felt I was doing well was when walking around in Jaipur-1 of my earphones stopped playing music; I just walked into a store, got a new pair and walked out in the rain. made me feel like there are better days ahead; purchase itself didn't spark joy

One afternoon I felt like I was sleeping too well and needed external validation. So I decided to take a few exams. I scored 71, 72 out of 100 in political theory and international relations. Insane ROI; I only had a few afternoons to study amidst everything. I’m so happy 😭

it's funny how certain songs remind you of a moment in time, at a specific place. Bend Over Backwards by Lennon Stella reminds me of early winter mornings at one of the NDLS railway platforms. very vivid memories.

Narrated a few parts of the essay that I’ve been writing in my head to my work friends and at the end of it they said “so how did things go ‘right’ for you?” perhaps when the time comes I’ll write in some detail about ghar parivar and viksit Bharat — it’ll be beautiful.

There was something very charming about walking around Chanakyapuri at age 22 without being bothered by the realities of daily life. New Delhi will always be the city of my dreams. I guess the other cities are also nice and stuff but yeah.

This aunt apparently said, “yeah, we shouldn’t have educated him—having to ‘cut’ MNREGA mud would’ve taught him a lesson.” How much can you hate someone to condemn them to a life of hard labor lol? None of these people will get a spot in the acknowledgment section of my book.
