Unfortunately dense residential adds risk due to neighbors in tight quarters. Newer buildings are compartmentalized to 'reduce' that risk, but a grease fire in a tenant below will collapse your floor in minutes. I feel bad for all of the people affected, prayers for all.

Ah, I was glad when Cable Select became a thing. If you go back much further you had to jump pins to select the hardware addresses for your audio card and others. Load a cd-rom driver (mscdex?) and assign it a letter.

The Precision T1600 (Xeon from 2011) just bit the dust, board died. It got emergency-replaced with an Optiplex 3010 (i5 from 2013). I miss my 11 year old precision already... Luckily they are the same platform so everything fit just fine. Won't stream as well tho... 😢
