We’re delighted to host the President’s lecture as part of our winter conference - the College President @DrLadeSmith is here to introduce a very special speaker to start the afternoon - the hugely eminent Sir Michael Marmot. Welcome to the stage, Sir Michael! @MichaelMarmot

The packed auditorium at our winter conference is now hearing from Professor Fiona Gaughran, lead consultant psychiatrist at the National Psychosis Service and Director of Research and Development at South London + Maudsley NHS Trust, talking about difficult to treat psychosis.

The third of our trainee presentations comes from Dr Cedar Andress, winner of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology Fellowship 2024, whose terrific talk covers her experiences in Japan, and mental health care in Japan.

Now we are hearing from the brilliant Dr Lizzy Donaghy and Dr Sarah Davidson who are telling a highly engaged audience about the research they led exploring psychotherapy core training cases and concepts through the use of simulation based education.

We’re thrilled to include our trainee presentations as part of the winter conference, and first up is Dr Amy Duncan, who has been telling delegates about a QI project which has made a big difference to cohesion between perinatal community mental health and maternity services.

Our second speaker this morning is Dr Claire Potter, from Queen’s University, who is talking about the biological effects of psychological stress, including the role it plays in the health of older people and the onset of dementia. An interesting + insightful talk from Claire!

We’re delighted to welcome Prof Derek Tracy @Derektracy1 - and he has the packed auditorium spellbound as he talks delegates through 4bn years of evolution in 40 minutes - leading to humanity, and human consciousness, as we know it today. Ambitious, entertaining and brilliant.
