I talk frequently with the catchers I work with about this. Stay quiet with the upper body and head. Big moves tip off the umpire that we’re trying to manipulate the pitch.
When you get this much head movement,it detracts from the catch. To think that you can track the ball all the way to the glove is erroneous. It just happens too fast. Your glove moves to the spot to catch the ball based on what you see somewhere out in front of the plate.
