When Christ asks something of us that we don't understand or expect, how do we respond? Do we trust in him, or do we doubt preferring instead to trust in ourselves? Let us ask God for the grace to trust in him and to follow wherever he leads us.
Gospel of the Day (Mark 1,14-20) Jesus said to them, "Come after me, and I will make you fishers of men." Then they abandoned their nets and followed him.

John came to prepare a way for the Lord, to tell the people of the imminence of Christ's incarnation, to invite them to prepare their hearts to welcome him. Let us seek hear that same call repeated today: to prepare our own hearts as we look to welcome Christ this Christmas.
Gospel of the Day (Luke 1,57-66) So they made signs, asking his father what he wished him to be called. He asked for a tablet and wrote, "John is his name," and all were amazed.

How do we respond to God's call? By cooperating with him and using our lives to build up his Kingdom on earth, or by challenging him, by avoiding his call and the witness he asks us to give? Let us use this time to reflect and ask ourselves how better can we live for Christ?
Gospel of the Day (Matthew 21,23-27) Jesus said to them in reply, "I shall ask you one question, and if you answer it for me, then I shall tell you by what authority I do these things. Where was John's baptism from? Was it of heavenly or of human origin?"
