Most of the military weapons being used by the cartels were legally sold to the Mexican army, and then went AWOL. Mexican military is as corrupt as it gets, and very often sells or loses their military weapons to the cartel.
NEW: 🇲🇽🇺🇲 The Mexican president asks how cartels in Mexico possess weapons from the US military: "How is it that there are weapons in Mexico that are for the exclusive use of the US military? Who sold them?"
