The culprit is an open source crypto lib (Conceal) for on-device encryption from Facebook. While it is not used by us, it is being pulled in as a compile dependency by another open source storage management library that is obsolete in our code and will be cleaned up soon.

Both have issues but individual calls is better than building a monolithic context-aware orchestration proxy at the backend . Over time, moving to each ecosystem of adjacent components on the backend having a composite API layer probably the right middle ground approach.
