In 2018 we built one of the largest LED streetlight programs in the U.S.—growing jobs for ex-offenders from 20 to now 100, and saving taxpayers millions of dollars in electric bills. A new day and new hope for the people of North Lawndale. Keep it going!

Deeply distraught to learn of the passing of a friend, brilliant businessman, and compassionate Chicagoan. Jim Crown loved our city and poured himself into making it stronger and safer for all. Amy and I are thinking of Paula and their children. May his memory be a blessing.

One of my first meetings as mayor of Chicago was with Robert Zimmer. From leading @UChicago to championing the Chicago Principles, Bob’s legacy will endure for generations. He was a Chicago treasure and will be missed. My thoughts are with his loved ones.

I first got to know @POTUS when I was in the Clinton White House with @SecBlinken. I’m proud to call President Biden a dear friend and serve as his @USAmbJapan. It's an honor to join him in Hiroshima for the #G7 and meetings with @kishida230.
It was great to meet with Prime Minister Kishida again to advance cooperation on the challenges facing our nations and globe. We’re strengthening our partnerships on technology, clean energy, and our supply chains – and our economies and people will be better off for it.

When Sam Zell’s Jewish parents fled Poland, they couldn’t imagine their son would become a successful entrepreneur & philanthropist in the city that welcomed them with open arms. From his beloved jeans to his unique voice, there was only one Sam. Amy & I send our condolences.

Lin Brehmer was the voice of Chicago. His voice was unique and a perfect way to start the day. An ambassador for the city’s music scene and a dear friend, I announced the Uptown music district concept on his show. I’ll miss hearing his voice on XRT. May his memory be a blessing.
