From a historical perspective, I would say his goal vs Anderlecht in the 1956/57 European Cup which was United’s first goal scored in European competition.

That's correct. Dad was transferred to Second Division Stoke City in 1962 where he had the opportunity to play with Sir Stanley Matthews. They gained promotion the first year.
