Our soccer family is saddened to share that our former coach, Gene Klein, passed away this morning. Gene was in a two-year battle with brain cancer and fought valiantly until the end.
Gene impacted so many at QV and we are sending our love to his family.

It’s 2022, so it would be appreciated if the
#PIAA
would mandate video streaming for all district and state playoff games. Teams have to travel quite far for some state games and having a centralized streaming website, similar to what NCAA conferences have, would be nice for all.

Once again, are there any WPIAL boys soccer games streaming tonight? It appears there are none, which is disheartening. Maybe charging schools $400 to stream a playoff game is not the right move and does not help broaden engagement of high school athletics.

There are 144 AA soccer teams in the state. Three of the final eight teams in the PIAA tournament are from the same WPIAL section (seven total teams in that section)- Quaker Valley, Ambridge, and North Catholic.
One to two of them will be in the PIAA semi-finals.

Sadly, it doesn’t look like the WPIAL will stream our match tonight. It’s unfortunate that in 2022, our organization still can’t provide a now common service to the fans who can’t make it to the game.

Our soccer family mourns the loss of one of our own, Ron Hitchens. A Sewickley resident, father of former players, assistant coach, and PA West leader, Ron gave to the area soccer community more than most. We are saddened by his passing, but thankful for all he has done.

Before the QV boys entered the WPIAL in ‘79, they were a school club, which was started by Ken Johns. Ken would also help spearhead the start of the girls team, both of whom have gone on to great success.
We thank Ken for his massive contribution to Quaker Valley Soccer.
