THREAD: Here's why people hate Wolfe. Many of us (under 35-40) entered into Calvinistic/Reformed thinking through popularizers on YouTube, etc., like James White. I remember in 2008 learning the "5 points" but struggling on Limited Atonement, until a helpful article by White.
No one denied natural theology, no one was a theonomist, no one rejected Rome's "dualisms," there was no category of "sacralism".
That's all 20th century garbage.

I think Stephen Wolfe is in his early 40's. At what age does young whipper snapper not work any more? 2.) Presbycast Brad and Hart showed their age and the generational divide. They can't see outside of the world of the 1980's or whatever it was when they made their hay.

I lasted all of 10 days in 2009 at Covenant College for the same reasons.
The PCA and its institutions need to give themselves the nuclear option and dissolve everything.
Seminary (Covenant) included a lot of confrontation for me. Here are some interesting incidents:
1. My Greek professor said that women have a hard time with the Bible’s masculine pronouns (“brothers”, etc). He argued that we should wrongly translate it “brothers and sisters.”

Wolfe about referring to the PCA General Assembly’s Elders being overweight, and said Wolfe basically called them “fat asses”. Wolfe didn’t use that language. But is it not true? And is it not true that many of them are also dumb asses? It is sad, but true.

he had no problem with the revisions to the WCF on chapter 23, which seemed to completely blow Hart’s mind right from the get go, and he basically said if we can’t agree that WCF 23.3 forbids the things Wolfe is arguing for, we can’t even have a discussion.

This was one of the first books on Apologetics I read when I was like 19. Then I went to RBC and learned from Dr. Mathison. Then I went to Greenville Seminary and faced the professors and entire class of presups and realized almost all were captured by Van Til.
40 years ago this book was published. Though you may not understand why, if it was heeded, Christian college and seminary curricula would have whole departments in philosophy and ethics. Interest in theological ressourcement would have hit earlier, and … 🤔

Only about 20 minutes in but this is good. I cut my teeth on Apologetics with Sproul, and went to his Bible College, so I was warned against presuppositionalism early on. They also weren't big on theonomy or Christian Reconstructionism. I've come to appreciate advocates of both.
