Hot take: orgs that aren’t able to move beyond the traditional societal tags of “pedigree” when they hire (or in this case invest..), will ultimately fail/ die.
Hire people for the quality of their work, and not because of a tag on their resume.
Back in 2015, while pitching to a VC fund, they spent almost half of the meeting asking us why we didn’t go to IITs, and whether we have anyone in the team from the IITs.
We turned down every subsequent meeting request from them. Yesterday I heard they are shutting down.
