2000 protesters gathered outside of Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn where Jamal Floyd, a protester, choked to death on pepper spray on Wednesday.
Nikki, the woman who was detained by NYPD officers using an unmarked van, has been released, according to sources on the ground! The arrest drew criticism from protesters, concerned citizens and public officials.

JUST IN: Gov. Cuomo has signed into law the bill legalizing marijuana in New York. It had passed legislature yesterday.

The hours-long standoff between NYPD and a single nonviolent BLM activist, who remains in his home and has not been shown a warrant, continues into the afternoon.
A bicycle marshal notified the Brooklyn Bridge protesters that they had mere minutes to stop blocking the roadway. With a large amount of cops approaching from Manhattan, crowd responded by linking arms and marching back into Brooklyn, where NYPD let them pass. No known arrests.

The person being arrested in this video has been a medic on site for weeks. Just before their arrest for quietly refusing to leave the street, she told our reporter that her possessions had all been trashed w/o a chance to claim them, including a gift from her deceased mother.
Police have retreated from the area. It doesn't seem like they were able to bring the protester they were attempting to arrest, but that's not certain. As police pull away, what was very nearly a violent confrontation turns into a dance party.

About 300 protesters gathered at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn to celebrate shabbat and demand Palestinian liberation at the Shabbat Against Settler Colonialism rally.
