I bought my first car yesterday, at 26 years old. Always relied on rides and public transportation. I do not have parents who could afford to purchase me a car, help with payments or decent enough credit to cosign. I was patient and waited until God could deliver. And He did.

They were in shock, it was very silent in the room for a while. The therapist suggested one on one time with each of us after each session. I think the goal of that was to allow me a safe space because the therapist recognized in that moment that I wasn’t allowed to feel at home.

Thank you all for your support. It’s very hard to not compare yourself to others and feel like you’re behind in life. I’m thankful for my friends/sorors/frat bros that gave me rides when I needed it and didn’t make me feel like an inconvenience.

My father suggested once that my mom and I attend family therapy to work out the tension between us. The therapist suggested to me that I journal. My mother laughed in the therapist’s face and said “that would require privacy, children don’t get that in my house”.
