Novel findings from a small study correlating night-nadir HR > 67 bpm with significantly increased risk of serious adverse events. Should we be studying ivabradine or beta-blockers again???

Seriously flawed retrospective study in open access journal creating bizzare model (CLASHED) to predict MINS in elderly pts undergoing emergent/urgent surgery & inappropriately comparing it to RCRI. I wouldn't use this. #mdpijcdd via @JCDD_MDPI

Contrary to expectations, pts with preop CKD had a significant improvement in eGFR postop. Pts w/o CKD had minimal change. Postop AKI negated the eGFR improvement in CKD pts & exacerbated the decline in non-CKD pts.

Nice commentary on the conflicting approaches of the ACC, ESC, & CCS guidelines to a 65 y/o pt w/o cardiac hx undergoing cholecystectomy Where your heart lies across the Atlantic may demand further assessment in cardiovascular management

Interesting review and consensus statement from the UK: continue GLP1-RAs periop and stop SGLT-2s only 1 day before surgery. Both of these are in contrast to recommendations in the US. They acknowledge the lack of good data.

Preop eGFR was a significant predictor of cardiac risk. This confirms the suggestion from the old reconstructed RCRI to replace serum Cr with eGFR. Low GFR(esp<30) was significant, but consider age-adjustment.

Finally - it’s about time. They fired the defensive coach. Miami’s horrible defense was the cause of their losses. Offense was #1 in the country - defense #65. Defense has deteriorated since Manny Diaz left. Cristobal should also get a pay cut from his ridiculously high salary.

Anyone see a problem with the editing in this open-access journal Heliyon? Postoperative delirium is common postoperative complications in noncardiac surgery. While delirium prophylaxis has not yielded unequivocal support. The effects of glucocorticoids on POD remains unclear.

Miami loses again in Pop-Tart Bowl. Disappointing once again - all offense-no defense. Cam Ward played a great half. Surprised he played at all. Defense couldn’t stop Iowa State & UM backup QB didn’t look good. Failed to get into FG range at the end.
