Prax now suggests community-run RPCs and frontends for the proposed Penumbra mainnet, so users no longer need to manually obtain and input RPC URLs — though they can of course choose whatever RPC they want.

Instead of relying on a backend service provider like other wallets, it runs an ultralight node right in your browser that syncs and indexes your account data locally, so your data stays on your device.
Penumbra's client protocol was co-designed with Prax to make this possible.

Solving this problem has been a huge lift that wouldn't have been possible without our own wallet. But now that our client stack exists, we're excited to help other Cosmos wallets integrate it and add support for Penumbra.
Every Penumbra wallet embeds an ultralight node that scans, syncs, decrypts, and locally indexes your own account state — a personal, private indexer, so frontends can query your data locally.
