539 UT Austin faculty, representing all ranks and 15 of the University’s colleges and schools, signed an open letter expressing a lack of confidence in President
@JCHartzell
. The letter has also been sent to the leaders of the
@Faculty_UT
Council.
We're at the part of the timeline where the media finds one democratic delegate in rural Texas who thinks Biden isn't up for the job and spins it into "DEM PARTY LEADER CALLS FOR BIDEN TO RESIGN AND WITHDRAW"
something I’ve noticed is that the perpetual construction in west campus gives glimpses of how much more space could be given to pedestrians while keeping car traffic flowing
BREAKING: The
#2030Census
and federal surveys are getting new checkboxes for “Middle Eastern or North African” & “Hispanic or Latino” after White House’s
@OMBPress
approved the first changes to U.S. government standards on racial & ethnic data since 1997
The problem with anti-"car culture"/walkable cities/public transport isn't that it's a bad approach for giant metropolises, it's that it's completely unworkable for the >90% of the country that doesn't live in one of America's largest urban centers.
so many of the apartment buildings in west campus sit on parking garages, imagine the amount of social good if even *one* of those garages had been a decent multilevel grocery store instead!
there’s a horse on my uncle’s farm that was never trained to do anything so it’s literally just a big dog. her name is Legend and this is her begging for food
MEMO: Barton Springs Road to be reduced to one car lane in each direction from South Lamar west to Azie Morton Road to “calm motor vehicle speeds and reduce the risk of severe collisions.”
Wider bike lanes. More pedestrian crossings. 12 month pilot.
If Amtrak were funded by the market, it would spend its entire capital budget in the Northeast/Mid-Atlantic, where train travel makes sense. Instead, it's funded by Congress, so creates inane plans like this.

Insane that the City of Austin turned Barton Springs Rd from a double lane to a single lane + bicycle lane.
Auto traffic is backed up North on Lamar from Oltorf To Barton. Everyone is trying to turn left to enjoy Zilker Park and basically choked out.
400 cars / 2 bikes
Everyone has a DUI because most people drink alcohol at some point in their life and before ride shares it was functionally impossible not to end up driving home. Public transpo barely exists and where it does, it gets you to the bar and then stops working before the bar closes.
most of y’all keep bringing up natural light but when my indoor air quality professor learned that these types units weren’t uncommon in west campus they were concerned to say the least
