I owe so much in my life to John Crosbie! He was a great person, member of our family, friend and mentor. Very sad to see him go. However his legacy will stay with us forever. Arguably the greatest Newfoundlander and Labradorian. Thoughts with Jane, Ches, Michael and Beth.

NL's last state funeral broadcast nationwide was for father of confederation Joey Smallwood. Brian Mulroney was also a eulogist at that service. Having the last words after both Smallwood and Crosbie is quite an accomplishment.

Unfortunately and sadly I can confirm John C Perlin passed away peacefully this morning. John was a beloved family member, friend to many and someone who made enormous contributions to his beloved NL. He was not just a cousin but a much loved friend, we will all miss greatly!

With the passing of Rex and Bob Cole, too, these are big blows. For decades, Rex held politicians across the country to account, and Bob brought us together on Saturday nights to find a common passion for hockey and country. Both dominated the national stage! Made us all proud!
