Last day at Ashton Gate Stadium today after 8 years looking after the lawn, it’s been an massive challenge and met some incredible people along the way. I’ve loved my time at BS3 up the Bears and up the City.

42 football, 21 rugby, 55 hours of corporate usage, champions cup final, national league final and a pitch invasion. It’s been a very long and challenging season. Renovations starting tomorrow, tight turn around for next season but we love a challenge here at BS3.

All us groundstaff were in the top tier celebrating the goal then realising there would be a pitch invasion, sprinting down the whole stand to retrieve the corner flags and lift the goals up before they’re lost forever 😂 probably the best game in my time at Ashton Gate

Playing surface here at BS3 recovering well after 4 games in 9 days, very thin in places but holding up okay, Bears 🐻🏉 back tomorrow as we move on to our 33rd usage this season. Our team has been unbelievable 👏🏻

Renovation Day 2, first and second pass done with the Koro removing all live vegetation, leaving a smooth surface with the tops of the drainage now showing, today we will remove all the grass from the surrounds and creating truer surface from the pitch to the gravel path.

Reno day 3. Weather is being difficult as usual but today we start with the sand master injecting sand into the surface which will help water movement through the profile keeping the pitch firm and dry in the wetter months (every jeffing month).

Reno day 4, we resume with the sand master and start with the airovator this will give a bed to key in the new top dressing, we will also be digging some new pipe drainage in the players warm up area which has really struggled this season.

Another summer project done with the upgrading of pitchside sockets so I can run our lighting rigs reliably and I have taken delivery of some additional select rigs to aid in pitch recovery in the winter months.

Reno day 5, all top dressing complete and ameliorated into the existing surface, then we’re on to seeding MM60/Tetra sport, soil amendments and pre seed fertilisers on then it’s time for a drink 💦

Day 4 update, top dressing has commence 90tonne of rootzone to be distributed evenly across the pitch, small piped drainage project completed. 🤞🏻 for seeding tomorrow..

Frost sheets have been on from 12/1-20/1 and removed just prior to Tuesdays FA youth cup game and redeployed on the final whistle, pitch blowers and lighting rigs deployed but we’ve been beaten by the weather this time. Pitch still solid now.

Superb day with the Bristol City team. The facilities at both The Bears and the new High Performance centre are superb. Stadium pitch grown in, in 5 weeks, ready for Aston Villa on Sat. Nice to have a social too in the Brizzle sun.
