since the weather is getting hot; remember not to point out someone’s:
• scars
• cellulite
• body hair
• extra skin
• loose skin
• tummy rolls
• stretch marks
• self harm scars
• dark underarms
merry christmas to those who are too depressed to leave bed, to those who are too anxious to socialize, to those who are struggling with their eating disorder and to everyone who struggles with their mental health heavily on holidays.
avoid people who:
- intentionally and repeatedly do and say things that they know will upset you.
- expect you to prioritize them but refuse to prioritize you.
- act like a victim when confronted with their abusive behavior.
- can’t and won’t apologize sincerely.
“never regret the love you gave anyone, even if it wasn’t reciprocated; love always comes back in full circle, keep putting out love into the universe because it will return to you in an infinite number of ways.”
• toxic positivity:
- “be happy”
- “just be positive”
- “you’ll get over it”
- “choose happiness”
- “others have it worse”
- “think happy thoughts”
- “stop being so negative”
- “see the good in everything”
- “be grateful instead of complaining”
few and small things you can do during a depressive episode:
• shower
• eat fruits
• skin care
• take a walk
• clean your room
• change your sheets
• watch funny movies
• write down your feelings
• be around your beloved ones
• pick a hobby: writing/photography..etc
your bad days don’t erase your progress. don’t let your bad days trick you into thinking that healing isn’t meant for you. please be kind to yourself on your bad days.
depression isn’t a phase
anxiety isn’t overreaction
bpd isn’t attention seeking
bipolar isn’t just mood swings
ptsd isn’t just for soldiers
ocd isn’t being a neat freak
eating disorders aren’t a lifestyle
they’re mental disorders; not decisions.
it’s important not to give up on things that take time and don’t happen overnight:
• healing
• self love
• recovery
• improving skills
• achieving goals
• self acceptance
• bettering yourself
• becoming positive
• healing from a breakup
• getting rid of bad habits
this tweet is a sign that your life matters and your suicidal thoughts are lying to you. you’re loved, you’re wanted, you’re cared about it, you’re worthy, you’re strong. please stay alive.
people with mental illness who feel proud of themselves for getting out of bed and doing productive things is heartwarming. celebrate your little steps. i’m proud of you too!
christmas can be a difficult time to many people, including people with eating disorders, social anxiety, depression and other mental illnesses. please be kind to everyone and don’t force them to do anything that will trigger their discomfort.
it’s okay:
- if you feel sad
- if you made a mistake
- if you outgrow people
- if you struggle to let go
- if you look back too often
- if you dream more than do
- if you waste too much time
- if you don’t know what to do
- and it’s okay if you aren’t there yet
if you’re having a hard time right now, feeling that things won’t get better, remember that you’ve already survived what you once thought you wouldn’t be able to overcome. you’ll survive this time too.
merry christmas to those who are too depressed to leave bed.
merry christmas to those who are too anxious to socialize.
merry christmas to those who are struggling with their eating disorder.
merry christmas to those who are suffering from mental illness.
your mental health is more important than the test, the interview, the lunch date, the meeting, the family dinner, the friends gathering, the soccer game or anything that might trigger your anxiety and stress. take care of yourself.
