Pra pessoas físicas, tem razão. Problema é que no Postgres, integer é no máximo 2.147.483.647 (o que dá +- 21M reais, se vc estiver representando centavos). E esse valor não consegue representar transações entre instituições financeiras, ou saldos de instituições, por exemplo. Aí entre bigint e decimal meio que fica a escolha do projetista.

@luctluctluctluc @AvelinoReAu 2 * 0.7 em float32 não é 1.4, por exemplo. Os números em ponto flutuante tem erros de precisão conhecidos e definidos no padrão IEEE754. Usar um tipo conjunto de Decimal ou bigint representando os centavos são soluções mais corretas, pois não sofrem com o mesmo problema.

There's a whole series of noise issues in audio equipment which stems from ground loops (2 points that should have the same potential, but don't). This effect would be magnified by a lot the farther you go.
