Words can’t describe how proud I am of these guys and what this win means for us and the program.
To everyone that’s been following our journey, thank you.
We are your 2024 College League of Legends National Champions.
The first National championship win in program history.

We provided 734 free Nintendo Switches to schools within the PlayVS community for the Spring season. This effort helped schools save over $260K in hardware costs.
Big thanks to
@NintendoAmerica
for also providing over 6K in free game/online codes to these programs.
Yesterday I was told that my director position and the varsity esports program will be eliminated.
After starting the club back in 2016, creating the program in 2020 and winning the national championship in 2024, my journey with SLU is over.
I literally got my JOB through my local grassroots smash scene. To see a MILLION DOLLAR COMPANY come in and STOMP all over local grassroots scenes and the teachers that VOLUNTEER their time to help it grow absolutely disgusts me.
I’m so glad AK addresses the smell problem at smash tournaments. He really explains the cause and effect that bad hygiene has on our potential investors and image as a scene. His plan to solve this smell with deodorant kits is something that I hope more tournaments adopt.
It's even more disgusting to see PR efforts being made to save their face within the scene WITHOUT actually addressing the ACTUAL issue at hand. Stop beating around the bush. It's pathetic
Introducing the Midwest’s newest Smash Ultimate major: Gateway Legends
Hosted in the heart of St. Louis in partnership with
@FairSaintLouis
we’ll see who can take home the $10,000 pot bonus, one of the largest prize pools the Midwest has ever seen.
Also for those QRTing me. This is a C&D from PLAYVS with no NINTENDO representative speaking out. Place anger towards the right people and don't be misinformed.
Region map got redrawn we are so back
Real talk though for the Midwest homies. If a region of WV ONLY plays with Pittsburgh, Ohio, and Kentucky, do we consider them Midwest?
Some things I’m proud of:
Largest club on campus with over 100 club participants. We started with no club at all.
Thousands of people attended my events held on SLU’s campus.
Won the national championship over every top program who started before us and mentored us.
Smash tournaments are too expensive now but to make money/fundraise we need high attendance, but to get high attendance you need to be a major, but if you have high attendance you also need top players to be a major, so you gotta spend money to get people to come make it a major
Thankfully the esports students scholarships are to be maintained until they graduate but if anyone wants to connect them with opportunities they are free to do so.
History has been made with the newest St. Louis Smash Ultimate Power Ranking. For the first time in 5 years we crown someone new as our
#1
. Congrats to everyone who made PR and especially
@LumaGetLucky
for taking the top spot.
Thank you all for coming out to Gateway Legends. This couldn’t have happened in any other city and I’m really blessed that I can run events like this with the love and support of my community. Couldn’t have done this without you STL ❤️
Ballpark Village was completely open during the event. Spectating the stage was free. The venue was filled to the brim and made the event so lively. We had people stumble in and watched the entire event. Waiters stopped serving to watch too. Definitely doing it again next time.
Congrats to the 10 players who competed last season from April to June and qualified to be Top 10 in St. Louis, Missouri!
Shoutouts to
@pepmakething
for the great graphic.
Here is the new STL PR! Shoutouts to
@campagne_papi
for the graphic.
Happy we have such a stacked scene of hardworking players who challenge each other every week.
Congrats to everyone who made it.
Made it to 24 today! Thankful for everyone that has helped me get to this point in life. Gonna use today to spend time with family and loved ones. Thank you all for being a part of my journey ❤️
We're spoiled by this guy being STL's
#1
. Consistently goes to locals, gives advice to everyone, gives back to the scene. It's so easy to root for him when he's traveling even if the rest of his scene is on the other side of the country. Can't wait to root for him at Watch The
Love when my students play in a

official match and everyone’s favorite streamer team starts saying they “roped” one of my students while in pregame lobby!

Until further notice, St. Louis, Missouri will be banning the usage of Steve at our local PR'ed tournaments.
Larger tournaments such as
@GatewayLegends
will have their own decision/announcement post Sweet Spot/Collision after data of their tech bans have been collected.
After 4 years, the largest midwest charity tournament is back!
Smash Out 2023 for
@ExtraLife4Kids
will be March 18th-19th in St. Louis, Missouri.
Registration starts in August so be ready to sign up early!
Remember to follow
@SmashOutSTL
for updates.
There’s no way the premier Fall collegiate event makes us schedule our own matches, changes the tournaments format 2 days before it starts, only contacts us through discord, and RANDOMLY SEEDS THE TOURNAMENT.
Big life update: I am officially the esports director for
@SLU_Official
.
Can't wait to work on the next chapter of my esports career for the school that helped me start it all.
Congrats to the top 10 players that made our last power ranking of the year! This was the 13th official season of STL Ultimate, and I’m looking forward to a new year and a new season.
Shout outs to Tim for making the graphic.
Steve fucking blows. Our top 64 was so fucking cool to watch. Every set went the distance and everything was so hyped. One of the best decisions the fair and I ever made.
Introducing the St. Louis Summer 2022 Smash Ultimate Power Rankings!
Thanks to
@TopHatSTL
for volunteering to do the graphic.
Please listen to this song while looking at the graphic:
I believe
@ApolloKage
is the most marketable and the best shot for the Midwest to have a representative next summit. He’s willing to travel, stream, shill, and so much more to get in. If you can’t agree on someone now, dw because STL will do our best to get you agree on AK.
I’m honor for League of Legends worlds starting today, here’s our Smash Ultimate PR 🤣
Introducing the top 10 competitors from St. Louis, Missouri Smash Ultimate between July - September 2023! Thanks
@pepmakething
for the graphic.
I’ve had many people approach me on how to start programs but also many people actively avoid me because they don’t want to hear the type of investment that is needed to make a relevant program. So many admins just wanna bank in on the esports wave and it really shows.
Northwood, Maryville, Ole Miss, SLU, Winthrop level of competition should be the norm for varsity programs not an anomaly.
If we want to be the tier 2 system then we have to compete at the level of the tier 2 system.
2nd place is the hardest pill to swallow, but I love my team so much. Wins on ISU, HU, CC, and WU this weekend. Probably one of the hardest brackets we could’ve had and still proved the haters wrong. We’ll win the next one.
I'm giving away a free singles pass to Gateway Legends ft. $10,000 pot bonus.
Just like and retweet this tweet and I'll raffle it off at the end of the day today (5/11).
Airren went from telling me to drop him because he thought he was bringing everyone down after our loss at the LA Comic Con invitational in 2022 to CLOL Champ and finals MVP in 2024.
Jett brings leadership and program changing confidence to any team he’s on. It’s crazy to me that we got to play a CLOL championship with a player like him. LCS orgs are really just trolling and want to lose I guess.
Another trophy in the collection, beat Maryville in NACL finals with FLYC then CLOL finals with a totally different roster in SLU.
Incredibly proud of my teammates, this win was for them and they deserve the spotlight.
Hopefully with fearless teams will have enough bans for me
It’s like that one episode of VGHS where napalm energy drink pays a bunch of pro players to go to take classes just to beat up a bunch of high schoolers in their national finals
Some of these plans I’m hearing for college teams are literally people just using a university as a vessel to run a pro org
What is the point of signing player mercenaries who play for their different semi pro teams all year, not practice with the school and then shit on college
Racism is running rampant in our country and I want to use my platform to be able to help support those that have their voices oppressed. My tournament series, Smash Out, will be running a video game tournament that will be using its resources to raise money for the NAACP.
We're coming back on July 31st - August 2nd with Smash Out Racism! This online event has Arms, Smash Ultimate, and Melee! We're also adding Valorant and League of Legends to the mix. Sign up to help support the NAACP.

Sad way to end our season but I'm very proud of my players and the way they came together. Hope I can continue to improve this program more for the guys I recruited to the school.
The start of 2021 was rough. Was unsure about what I was doing with SLU, had a break up because I was stuck in STL doing esports, and was mentally in a terrible place.
I’m going into 2022 confident in my decisions with amazing friends and a program that I’m proud of.
Crazy game ending between Luma and AK last night. This won
@LumaGetLucky
the set and the tournament. First time in awhile where someone in STL has a positive set count over AK (6-5).
Gonna be an interesting PR season...
