if you are a new follower, i've been doing these gestural experiments for a while now. eventually i wanna build tools that manipulate symbolic thinking in an embodied and intuitive way.

of all my highschool classmates who went abroad, probably 90% chose to come to the us. a lot of them got their phds, managed to stay here, either in academia or industry.

it's more inspiring to think how humans interact with computers *not* as tool use, but as niche construction; aka *not* as monkeys using rocks, but as beavers building dams.
the computer is not just a tool - it's an environment we construct "out of the bits and pieces of the

thumb opposition is highly developed in humans but not unique.
but being able to hold and squeeze objects between the tip of the thumb and the tip of the index finger is unique to humans.

what i eventually wanna do with these gestural experiments is to build a speculative demonstration (not actual implementation, yet) of how people might manipulate symbolic thinking in an embodied and intuitive way.

Cool visualization, but much more interesting when feeding a song into it...

if you wanna make art with ai, just go ahead and do it.
don't let anyone else define what you can do, ever. even from those you respect.
it's not that they lack good opinions on this matter. it's simply they don't know - nor can't - what you can do until you make it.
✨How AI sees colors: a color space made from their interconnected linguistic dimensions🌈
I extracted all the words for colors from wiki and mapped their embeddings from llms to a 3D color space, making it a semantic one purely derived from languages of the hive mind. 𓉤
have you ever seen ✨the latent space of colors🌈?
i extracted all the colors listed on wikipedia and used the openai api to obtain their embeddings, making a semantic color space from human languages.
here's the visualization in 3d:
i guess i suffer from something like an aesthetics-driven curiosity: i'd read a paper that i wouldn't otherwise just because it has pretty figures.
"suffering" is actually unfounded - i find it quite a useful pointer, especially when finding what interesting artificial life

Any problem solving, especially in a way that get your paid , requires creativity.
Laser focus and consistency come in handy when you try to dig a tunnel out of North Korea. Doesn’t make you a great problem solver.
