Father of Four. Family, Baseball and Art are how I spend most of my time. I out kicked my coverage with my incredible wife. Eternally grateful. Life is GOOD!
I get asked a lot about Tyson’s training. To be honest most of the work he does is on his own.
@troskybaseball
has been a positive influencer on his development. As Nate says “Everyone practices, what are you doing before, after, and between practices?”

Brice Matthews rankings on Perfect Game. Families spend 10’s of thousands of dollars on this stuff and get caught up in the rankings hype. Brice was the 18th pick in this years MLB Draft. Don’t put too much weight in this stuff. Find good competition. Play the game. Repeat.
When your 4 year old son, who is crazy about
@JohnDeere
, asks for a Valentines Day box. You spend 6 hours turning recycled boxes into a tractor. Hope you like it Jax!
Vital component of hitting and often lacking. Creating and FEELING a weight shift into the rear hip while slightly coiling/closing front hip. Ride that “pinch/gather” in the rear hip out until the front foot lands. Earlier and slower load. Then Explode! Credit:

HUGE thank you to Coach Nate Trosky for spending five hours with these guys tonight! It was a great workout. Always learning and continually raising the bar.

When I hear “that coach is too hard on them”.... I think SOFT. Soft parents, soft kid, soft culture. People want to eat sausage, they just never want to know how it’s made. If you want to be truly elite it just simply takes more than most are willing to give. Don’t be soft.
5P Rule: Proper Preparation Prevents Poor Performance. If you want uncommon results, be willing to give uncommon effort, make uncommon sacrifices, and hold yourself accountable. Blue collar mentality. Your work is NEVER done. What can you do today to prepare for tomorrow?
"People didn't believe me when I told them I practiced harder than I played, but it was true. That's where my comfort zone was created. By the time the game came, all I had to do was react to what my body was already accustomed to doing."

Emotional night. Tyson took off for Goodyear, AZ to sign his contract with the Reds and to begin his professional career. These two boys have spent thousands upon thousands of hours together training and pushing each other. They are each other’s biggest supporter. ❤️💪⚾️
Tonight I fulfilled a life long dream by committing to the University of Nebraska! Thank you to everyone who has helped me along the way!

Away, middle, in. Front shoulder. Notice the patch on his front sleeve. It stays closed or “on the ball” until the last second. Allows for a cleaner bat path and better barrel direction. Fight to stay square w the torso as long has possible. Similar to high velo pitchers.
@OmahaBSB
This D1 ⚾️ program got their stadium right! Branded for the University and no other teams (it's HOME). Small enough to provide a fun atmosphere and feel PACKED. Big enough to host (and probably beat) P5 opponents. Turf.....a no-brainer in the midwest. Nicely done Mavericks!
I did this mural this week in my classroom. Students enjoyed coming in while I worked on it over my lunch breaks. I missed painting as an administrator. Crazy how many things I truly enjoy are slowly coming back to me after making a career change 2 years ago!
#dowhatyoulove
I do get asked a lot during my lessons what drills my boys do, etc. It isn’t about any one drill or program. It’s about a lifestyle. Hayden has lofty goals and the only way to realize lofty goals is to be ALL IN. The attached list isn’t all inclusive, but it’s a snapshot:
Well. Life is full of curveballs. During the final week of fall ball, Hayden had pain and discomfort in his elbow. Today he underwent Tommy John surgery. He will begin his 10-12 month journey back to 100% this week with the Nebraska training staff. Love ya buddy!❤️💪⚾️
Ty is loving pro ball. Has been swinging the bat well and playing defense like he was taught by
@NateTrosky
. Excited to hear from him daily….even if it’s only a short text😂. So grateful for the opportunities in front of him and proud of the work he puts in daily❤️👊⚾️💪
@30SecFights
On display here is the increasingly shrinking skill of parenting. If this child was taught right from wrong at home, this wouldn’t happen. People say teachers are overpaid..in repose to that I give you this video. As a former administrator I can attest that this is all 2 common.
Tyson’s final round of BP today in Houston. Guy walking up in the white shirt is HOF’er Jeff Bagwell. He looked back at a ball Ty hit into the upper deck. Fun day.
Ty just texted us that his final interview with an MLB Club ended and his week at the MLB Draft Combine is over. Back in Omaha tomorrow. Looking forward to hearing about the experience.
Two injuries and a major surgery kept you off the field for all of 2022. You persevered and never lost faith. You deserve this opportunity Tyson! Your work ethic and character will take you so far in life! We look forward to sharing this journey with you! Love ya! -Dad
After a great weekend down in Fayetteville with the Razorback coaching staff, I’d like to announce that I have committed to the University of Arkansas! I would like to thank my family and friends for their unwavering support throughout my entire career. Wooo Pig Sooie! LFG
Hershiser Drill:
1) Find your ideal set position
2) High leg kick
3) Get your lower half moving freaking fast to home plate
Been doing this drill for a while. First movement to home plate is key!
I’ve been trying to get our team to understand what it takes to get recruited. It has nothing to do with how many hits u had or how u pitched. It’s all about this👇. This👇 and training for 3 hours every single day, eating right, lifting, studying, and getting to bed early.
My boys are on year three of using Driveline. My entire 13U team all has their own set of DL balls and we never touch a baseball w/out going thru our warmup first. Do your own research! Driveline is all about player development and transparency is the norm.
@DrivelineBB
Thank you Mike Fountain for the pic and videos from Goodyear, AZ tonight. Ty and Kale were teammates as 12 year olds for one tournament and again on the Area Code Team last summer. Tonight they shared the same field as professionals. So much fun following these two.
When kids get recruited early they get fed (praise and ego). Sometimes they lose the hunger to improve. There are a lot of kids out there who haven’t been fed and they remain hungry. They continue to develop & can often times end up the better prospect. It’s always time to EAT!
So many questioned our move to Millard West in ‘22. Even more said he’d never be able to play Class A ball, especially at MW. We’re incredibly grateful for the past two years. Ignore the haters and frauds. Always bet on yourself kids and keep your inner-circle tight. Go Cats!!
@BaseballBros
@SimoneEli_TV
The catcher receiving each pitch is equally as impressive. I’d be worried about the pitch bouncing off one of the DH cutouts or the blocks or both.....
#WEARit
I honestly don’t think there’s ever been a better left side in the state. So much fun watching these two play side-by-side again over the past two years. Thanks for the pic Chris!
Tyson working on a short hop series with
@troskybaseball
during our two-day infield camp
@MillardUnited
. A great two days of learning and development for the kids. Coaches took away a lot of video and notes as well.
Ty participated in a Pro Day down in KC today. Back is feeling good, so why not accept the invite!? Not recruited as a pitcher by any stretch, but hopped on the mound for a few pitches today after hitting. With some dedicated time, he may find that he enjoys the mound👍
Spent this evening touching up a mural I did 13 years ago in Yutan’s High School gym. Fixed scuff marks and added white and black to areas that needed a little work. He should be good for another 10-15 years. GBR!
It was a lot of fun painting this canvas of Hal Trosky (MLB 1933-1946). Pictured here are my two sons and Hal’s grandson Nate Trosky. GYMR!

Be looking for the finished product by Friday. This is a 48”x36” gallery canvas in black and white acrylic. Just about done w/ Baby Yoda. Then onto to Mando’s armor. A retweet gets u a chance to win it! (I pay for shipping). Stay tuned.

As I reflect on Tyson’s journey and recent commitment to Arkansas I have to mention the monumental impact that Nate Trosky has had on Tyson. It all started in Iowa City over 6 years ago! The fire was lit! Thanks Nate!

Personally I feel eligibility must end before a player turns 24. After that they are taking away opportunities from kids. At 24 you should either be in pro ball, at a job our finishing a masters degree. Not taking away opportunities from HS kids. Rule needs some safeguards.
My father-in-law owns Ricks Meats in Elkhorn. He just dropped off 25 pounds of steak for the boys. They lift 6x per week and are both trying to put on muscle. This won’t hurt. Thanks Rick!🐂🐂🐂💪💪⚾️⚾️
I was asked by a good friend who has trained Ty since he was 11 to give him a “committed” pic to go along w Ty’s testimonial. We finally got a pic of him in a uniform after an 18 month injury layoff. It’s been 24 months since he’s put on a spring uni. So here you go Nate👊 WPS!
Black and white Kobe painting on 34”38” wood panel. This should be done some sometime next week. Will build a custom frame for it as well. This painting will be for sale. Price to be determined. RIP Mamba.
This is a very powerful image for me. Tyson made a decision at age 10 that he wanted to play professional baseball. A spark was lit in 2016 at a Trosky camp in Iowa City. Thanks Nate for your passion for the game and for sharing your gift as a master teacher!
#GYMR
There is a reason my teams sprint to their positions at all times, tuck in their shirts and wear sleeves to practice. Looking the part is easy and it’s half the battle if you want to play at the next level. Why would you want to make a sloppy first impression?
#detailsmatter
Does a seven year old really “need hitting lessons?” I think not. Parents if you turn practice into a job at a young age your child will never develop the intrinsic motivation needed to become the player you envision them to be. Love of game first. Then targeted development.

2024 Scout team prepare for their first game today. We are the visitors. The home team just took the field. Every single player walked from the dugout to their position. Let’s hope we do better. You never know who’s watching. Respect the game.
Been a rough 2022 for Tyson. Fractured his L5 vertebrae in February and had to miss the entire spring ⚾️ season. Had a set back training in May and had to miss summer ⚾️. Last night we went into the ER w stomach pains. He’s now waiting to have his appendix removed. 👊❤️🙏
Fun weekend mural project for Elkhorn Baseball’s new Hall of Fame area. Incredible tradition coming out of the Antlers program. 9 State Titles and I’m sure several more to come. One of the best venues to play and watch a ballgame. It was an honor!
@Antlers_Basebll
If you play 2-3 sports and want to play college baseball you better find time to throw 5-6x per week during December-February. Position guys need to hit all offseason. We are seeing way too many kids having arm issues after two weeks of practice. Kids aren't in bsbl shape.
Spent a couple of hours with the Kentucky Baseball coaching staff tonight. Very impressive all around. Jaxon has really enjoyed his time with his brother in Lexington. Grateful to be able to share these moments with our kids!
Using a connection ball to teach feel. V-Slot arm action with LRL throw footwork and scap load. Tap glove in sync with footwork to create rhythm before initiating throw. Players follow throw and rebound connection ball.

Players need to understand if a college coach is there to watch you, he already knows you have some physical tools. The intangibles are often the separator. Prepare and act like a 5 Star at all times, you never know who is watching. HS Coaches this is also on you.

Jade got her first Varsity start tonight. She played great and is getting better every game! Very proud of her. Lady Chieftains won in 3 sets over Cedar Bluffs!

More on Lewis' monster year ➡️
These three had a chance to play together when they were 12 and it was a ton of fun. The stars never aligned again for them to join forces as teammates, but it’s always fun seeing them cross paths. All three have bright futures on and off the field! Chase your dreams boys!
@TheXplosiveEdge
works. Ask UCF Football and Nebraska Football! My 16 year old loves it and we’re about ready to send my 13 year old this fall. I can’t speak highly enough about the program and Gibbie Duval.
5,500+ fans at the game tonight. Class A title games just hit different. So glad we made the move to Millard West two years ago. Thanks for the memories Cats! On to the next chapter.
The Lewis boys with their final assist to the PV Baseball Program. Gotta leave the dugouts better than you found em’! Cleaned and raked the warning track as well (that tree leaves a mess). It’s time for some District Baseball!

District Champs. These six boys all played together for me with
@Millard_Elite
. Trained right by Chris and I. A lot of good memories getting after it with these boys. On to State. Let’s Go!
If you take a 30 min hitting lesson and the instructor talks for 15+ min....find another instructor. Keep it simple. Let kids find their own best swing. Make simple adjustments and master the basics. I witnessed an absolutely brutal lesson recently that made this post happen.
Nothing says “Baseball” like relentless 20-40 mph winds and constant temps in the low 40’s and high 30’s. Mother Nature is cruel. Of course it’s 75-85 degrees on dates we don’t have any games scheduled (Fri-Mon). Brutal.
I’m all for tech. However, I must admit that when a player stops in the middle of a round of BP because the “HT isn’t working”....I feel we’re losing sight of what’s really important. If u don’t enjoy the work/process u probably r in it for the wrong reasons.

December 1st Jade went down in the first quarter of the first game w what ended up being a fractured femur and tibia. Nearly three months later she was back playing and we are so thrilled to get to see her compete again. Even better….we’re headed to STATE! Congrats girls!

Strongly disagree. At some point there needs to be a level of accountability. We have to expect & demand more of our students. In the real world there will be deadlines. Your employer isn’t going to care if the report is accurate if it’s late.“Study skills” do matter. Be on time.
I was asked to paint guide lines and lay mulch. I started painting the lines and decided to paint an infield instead. Neighborhood Regionals started today.
