This is the straw that broke the camels back. The PL/FA have walked away from the new deal talks with the EFL and now they are trying to put their arms around as much of the pie as they can before a regulator is appointed.
It’s time for football pyramid to fight back
Spot-on. I don't think FA Cup replays should be sacred. Financially they *can* be a game-changer for a smaller club, but rarely. Football-wise they feel like a relic. If this change took place in isolation, it would be easy to shrug off.

This is the long term sustainable model. But you need a LOT of investment up front over a multi year period and a willingness to pay good sized transfer fees for young players before it starts paying real dividends.
Our current owner (allegedly) has the means to do that but
If the club came out and said their plan was to invest in young players in the Peterborough style model, would you be happy?

It’s not just about recruitment, but then being prepared to back that up with sometimes substantial fees for National League (and below) players that other clubs just wouldn’t be prepared to take the perceived risk on.
It becomes a virtuous circle as other aspiring young players
Peterborough United are hands down one of the 'best-run' clubs in English football. Hit after hit when it comes to recruitment, picking up younger players from lower leagues then installing them as key starters before flipping them upward. They could be the 'best-run' club.

Don’t also underestimate the work on the commercial side of the business that goes directly to the budget and the wheeling and dealing that had to happen to maximize every penny. We’ll see where this team takes us but great effort all around.
