And that will be England gone, The shadows, the meadows, the lanes, The guildhalls, the carved choirs. There'll be books; it will linger on In galleries; but all that remains For us will be concrete and tyres. Philip Larkin 1922 -1985 [thanks to @SandyofSuffolk]

Good for you, don’t blame you. I’m too old or I’d join you.
My house 🏠 is going on the market tomorrow. I feel sad as I love my home, but I have to make preparations to move to the States #USA . The UK... my country, which I love ❤️ .... is no longer safe and is being run by demented Marxists. If anyone wants to come with me.... ??

I don’t believe the law enables government to force a company to do something against its will and then never to mention it. Particularly an international company based out of USA the bastion of free speech.

You could bet your life that Morgan McSweeney prompted this meeting, and all the stuff that was deeply divisive was also discussed. This prime minister thinks we are all idiots.
NEW Number 10 has just released an official read-out on Sir Keir Starmer's four hour Cabinet meeting - held today at an undisclosed location in London - hours after telling us one would not be made available. "The Prime Minister opened the session by reflecting on the importance of economic growth to deliver our Plan for Change and improve the lives of working people. He said this government had taken on the challenges headfirst, with clear, tangible goals and policy action to cut through the complexities which have tripped up predecessors. "The Chancellor said that our support for the third runway at Heathrow is exactly the sort of model to boost growth for Britain and we need to move further and faster, noting the Bank of England's support yesterday for the Government's efforts to grow the supply side of the economy in the long term. "The Cabinet continued with a number of in-depth discussions focused on delivery of the Plan for Change. This included business engagement, where the Chancellor noted they were often held back by a complex and unpredictable regulatory system. She highlighted that it placed a burden on innovation, and she had recently met with heads of some of our largest regulators to understand options to drive growth in their sectors. The Business and Trade Secretary provided an update on his work with businesses, and highlighted that political stability meant Britain was an attractive place to do business. "Turning to public sector reform, the Prime Minister said that we needed to be bold in order to deliver the enormous change required to transform our public services. The Chief Secretary to the Treasury said that the Spending Review will ensure that taxpayer money is spent wisely on the Plan for Change - but reform is also needed to create a more productive and agile state. "The Innovation Secretary expanded on the recent work on AI, noting the breadth of opportunities available to reform the public sector. The Cabinet discussed the ways the public sector needs to keep pace with the private sector with regards to technology and AI. "The Prime Minister concluded Cabinet by noting the importance of continuing the momentum throughout the year to deliver the ambitious reform agenda the country wants to see." ENDS

These people are so utterly pathetic. They tackle acute problems with tiny little pin pricks. Same with illegal migrants - they’ll ‘tackle the gangs’! They never do anything about the systemic issues that create the problems. Cooper is probably the worst of them.
Excl: Yvette Cooper says she's considering banning kitchen knives with pointed ends to tackle soaring gang violence:
