How do we weave healthy communities? That's been our inquiry for the past 5 years. And so proud to share with you all the Community Weaving Framework. It has 5 elements: The Fire, the Web, the Rhythm, the Circles, the Spiral. How does this resonate?

I was recently asked what the biggest barrier is to having thriving communities. My answer: time. Nobody got time for deep community. Here some reflections on how to weave community when everyone is feeling stretched thin

I always felt that jazz music is a great analogy for community: emergent, relational, but still needs a fluid sense of coherence and alignment (especially in contrast to more structured, pre-planned classical music).

What can jazz bands teach us about creating a team environment where everyone can contribute & flourish & the team can perform its very best work? A jazz band culture means: 1) Individual responsibility: everyone understands their role & is prepared to jump in to support others. 2) Mutual trust: everyone knows they have each other’s backs. 3) Adaptability: members create as they play & build on each other’s notes. 4) Experimental and learning mindsets: all team members value & respect this. 5) Deep listening and responsiveness: everyone is aware of who's playing what & what each person contributes to the whole. 6) Creativity and improvisation: based on core competencies. What if we organized our communities (and other collective projects) around a purpose question (vs a purpose statement)? What you think? #community #networks #collaboration

@Wise Imagine running a business where all of a sudden you can't access your money for up to 2 weeks. How is that possible? We have been in touch with your customer service who has been extremely unhelpful and refusing to expedite things.

What if community weaving was about creating EXCUSES for people to connect more easily? For some of us (incl myself) connecting with others doesn’t always come easily. That’s why I’m so grateful when community gives me an excuse to connect with others.

"Social Impact" is such a brutal term. And yet it reflects quite well how we're thinking about change. It's time to try change the metaphor towards something that is more life-giving. What metaphors are working better for you?

As an adult in the western world you are being told to not rely on your community. Use professionals instead. We have replaced relations with transactions for our GDP god. That’s how we destroyed our communities. Instead, reach out to your friends, neighbors & rebuild community

We can spend hours creating business cases & "value propositions" but trying to persuade people to change opinion is often not worth it. When it comes to change, shaping people's networks is typically more effective than shaping opinions: By @digitaltonto

There is much hype about web3 as a tool to strengthen community. For good reasons. But most of that is hype. Most arent ready to be used by wider audience. Meanwhile there are powerful, non-crypto community tools hiding in plain side. Here are 4 of them:

Have you ever participated in a collaborative project, where the ultimate conclusion is that we should've invested first into relationships & trust before building out project infrastructure? It feels like the obvious less we keep forgetting, again & again

Co-creation in community is soo important. And yet often sooo exhausting… What can we do to make the process more energizing? Learnings: Don’t assume everyone wants to co-create, make the invitation time-bound, be clear about commitment & have leadership.
