If you really know
@UNC_Basketball
, you know Freddie Kiger. Freddie started doing stats for Coach Dean Smith in 1974. Let that sink in - 1974! An amazing 50-year career. An amazing person. One of the gosh darn nicest persons you’ll ever meet.
North Carolina Tar Heels huddle during the final timeout of an 88-79 overtime win over the Syracuse Orange on Feb 28, 2022. Photo taken with a remote camera that I mounted pre-game in the cat walk and triggered with a

Christian Keeling (
@BasktballPower
) of
@UNC_Basketball
was at the
@mg1nyard
camp today and was a huge hit with the kids. Awesome person and I'm looking forward to photographing him next season.
.
@drebly_32
was welcomed back home by the Carolina faithful last night. Here's one of my photos from his introduction during halftime of the basketball game.
@GoHeels
@TarHeelFootball
I photographed
@CornellLacrosse
this weekend for
@USLacrosseMag
. I had no idea that I would be photographing their last game of the season in the wake of the Ivy League cancelling all games and practices due to
#COVID19
. It's.... stunning.
The
@UNCmenssoccer
team is back at
@UNC
and preparing for the season which is more than practices; it's also about team-building & even just moving into the dorm. Here's my week 1 story w/ the team. I'm not the greatest writer, so come for the photos!📸
I had so much time w/
@UNCmenssoccer
following and photographing these guys this year. I loved every minute & don't regret a single moment with them, even though the story ended earlier than we hoped. I'm going to start work on putting together the final photo package this month.
In early May I will be releasing my season-long photo story with the
@DukeWRES
team. I can't wait to share with you the story of these student athletes and the hard work they put in everyday off the mat that you don't see.
I hope we can get Tamarcus at UNC. I’m not an expert of football talent, but I know good people when I see them, and Tamarcus is one good dude. While photographing 7v7, he was kind enough to check on me to see if I needed anything. Became a life-long Tamarcus fan after that.
Guy A: Just got some great news. My son got into college!
Guy B: Really? Where's he headed?
A: Carolina.
B: Alright! Go Heels!
A: No, USC.
B: West Coast, here he comes!
A: No! Columbia!
B: Whoa, an Ivy League man.
A: Nevermind.
[Unsure who to credit for this gem.]
Can I just say, I love the folks at
@GoHeels
and UNC Athletics broadly for crediting photographers for work (like in this screenshot, bottom right). I've alway felt the UNC crew appreciates the work we do, and goodness knows, I enjoy working for them. Great people.
Big announcement: I am excited that this season I will be doing a behind-the-scenes photo story with the
@UNCmenssoccer
team. I've never worked with a
#soccer
team off the field, so I'm both nervous & excited. Here's some photos and thoughts from day one.
Almost one year ago I launched by photo story with the UNC men's soccer team. Great reading it over again and remembering the good time I had with the lads.
Why do I love this
@UNCmenssoccer
team so much? Moments like these. We lose a tough game last night & I see incredible character out of the guys. Sebastian Berhalter walks over & thanks a fan. Matt Constant does a press conference, w/ his usual infectious smile & optimism. (1/2)
Some negativity towards
@UNC_Basketball
players today. First, it’s just a game; it’s not life and death. Have some perspective. Second, those are people out there playing, not robots for your amusement. They have feelings too and don’t deserve this vitriol.
