Sadly, this historical event did not receive the attention it deserved during the campaign when the issue of tariffs was raised. The Smoot-Hawley Tariff, passed in 1930 during the Great Depression, was a law that significantly increased tariffs on imported goods to the United States, aiming to protect domestic industries but ultimately worsening the global economic crisis by triggering retaliatory tariffs from other countries, leading to a sharp decline in international trade and further deepening the Depression.

I'm not Jewish but I have known a lot of Jews and got along with them. I even have some relatives who are Jewish. Great people. But one reason why I speak out is the other side really disgusts me. Before October 7, I thought the Palestinians were just regular people who were in some land dispute with Israel. But then ... the slaughters, destruction, and hostage taking were bad enough but it seems that most of the Palestinian population supported it. I'm no fan of terrorism. The pro-Palestinian hate marches I found to be abhorrent. Also finding out on how many times the Palestinians turned down opportunities to have their own state. Of course the leftists also deserve a large share of the blame for reinforcing the victimhood narrative among the Palestinian people instead of letting them face some accountability among themselves that they are the source of their own problems. And I say this as someone whose views used to lean left.

Even if everyone in CA and NY voted the same it would still not be enough to control the federal government because those two states only make up 20% of the USA population. Consider the possibility that the Electoral College is a big reason why we have so much corruption in government. Because of the EC the presidential candidates only visit six or so swing states, so a huge state like CA of 40 million people with the 5th largest economy in the world receives very little attention and so it makes it easy for corruption to run amok. By the way, were you aware that in the last 43 years, no bill that has been vetoed by the Governor has ever been over ridden by the state legislature? I've seen a few bills that were passed UNANIMOUSLY by both the state Assembly and state Senate, vetoed by the Governor, and yet then the legislature would refuse to challenge his veto. So why have a legislature if they are just going to rubber stamp whatever the Governor wants? I bet the number of people aware of this shameful situation is minuscule. Of course no one is stopping the media from covering this story. It's amazing to see what the media doesn't cover.

@EinatWilf I put a lot of blame on the leftists who like to make themselves feel good by reinforcing a victim narrative in the Palestinian community.
