@blisswords @VictimOfMaths Agree that both prevention and treatment needed. Alcohol treatment services been in decline in England and Scotland for a decade or so predating COVID. In Scotland loss of ringfenced money likely to be a big factor. Services need to be rebuilt including in acute hospitals.

This is really disappointing. DAISy is the Scottish info system for alcohol and drug treatment. There is a substantial unmet need for help with alcohol problems. Knowing access into services, retention and outcomes is very important. Improvement here should be a high priority.
These figures show that only 62% of assessments were entered into DAISy in 2023/24. We need to understand why this is and how data collection can be improved so we can be assured services are meeting the needs of people trying to access alcohol treatment.
