@timcairns You're sneering at the idea of equalising ferry pricing between Larne to Cairnryan and Stornoway to Ullapool. Even if there was a bridge, if people are going much further south that Carlisle they'll fly anyway. Electric planes would largely deal with the carbon emissions.

@timcairns The 2021 feasibility study estimated £335 billion, so half a trillion isn't outlandish given the habit of major UK infrastructure projects to balloon in cost. Why can't we just make the ferries cheaper? That's something that could actually happen in reality.
