Britain has a Home Secretary who thinks that counter-terrorism is a criminal offence. Her cliché ridden soundbites are full of excruciating mistakes like this. This should be of extreme concern.
UK Home Secretary Priti Patel has said seven times in this interview that she plans to deal with “counter terrorism offenders”.

France's Interior Minister Christophe Castaner is quite rightly one of highest-profile politicians in France right now. He's being grilled by MPs via video link in National Assembly today. What a contrast with UK's scandalously absent Home Secretary Priti Patel @YvetteCooperMP

This Paris daily newspaper splashes on Charles III today, highlighting how the French Republic remains fascinated by the British Crown. Assesses the King's early reign, and suggests he's doing well. Main quoted expert is @valentinelow of the « Dieu et mon droit » Times.

"Meghan and Harry accused of lying, they are the laughing stock of the whole world". Little sympathy for Prince Harry and his woeful PR stunts in Paris, where his mother was a genuine victim of speeding by a drunk driver. This headline - one of many similar - via @GALAfr

Potentially defamatory accusation that Britain's Royal Family "perpetuated falsehoods" is quite rightly translated as "spread lies" in the French Republic, where sa majesté the Queen is massively respected. No attempt to underplay grave allegations using attorney weasel words.
Un nouvel extrait de l'interview accordée par la duchesse de Sussex à Oprah Winfrey a été dévoilé mercredi soir par la chaîne américaine CBS.

If you're caught demonstrating on behalf of Palestine in "je suis Charlie" Paris - one of the world's great protest cities - today you face a fine or worse. Free expression about anything, unless it involves Arab Muslim grievances.
Le recours contre l'arrêté pris par le préfet de Police a été rejeté par le tribunal administratif. La manifestation prévue demain est donc interdite. #Rappel : Participer à une manifestation interdite fait l'objet d'une verbalisation à hauteur de 135€.

@EKdesune @Thibaut_Octave 1. There were no "planks" 2. The mob was in the Tuileries garden 3. My contemporaneous tweet, filed in the middle of a riot, described a fire at the Jeu de Paume art gallery. What I saw was what appeared in my video, and I'll be inspecting the damage tomorrow.

France’s National Rally has “anti-Semitic & racist foundations”, stigmatises on “origin & appearance” & is economically illiterate. A vote for the Le Pen family business is a betrayal of 235 years of French republicanism. Sans ambiguïté from @lemondefr .

@gil2chill Agree - I usually wait - but my point is not about personal convenience. It is about a very dangerous build up of humanity in an enclosed space. This is especially worrying during a period of high security warnings (now) and when all trains end soon after midnight.

Prenez un grip….Louis XIV (1638 – 1715), le Roi-Soleil, was on the throne of France for 72 years and 110 days.
The Queen has hosted a reception for local community groups at Sandringham House on the eve of Accession Day. Her Majesty is the first Monarch in history to reach the historic milestone of 70 years on the throne.

@barbmilne @albsar1970 No probs. I remember Peter being very moved by the photo. He didn't see it until he was well into his 50s, yet identified everybody instantly. He was massively proud of all their achievements, and his city.

Eric Blair was at prep school in Sussex when this pic taken, but in 1928 he moved into 6, rue du Pot de Fer. He suffered poverty, theft & illness there & wrote about it in "Down & Out in Paris & London", under nom de plume, George Orwell. He renamed the street rue du Coq D’Or.
Wednesday 24th June 1914 - 4 weeks before the start of The Great War. I have restored this gorgeous autochrome of a Parisian family in the Rue du Pot de Fer, which was taken 106 years ago by Stéphane Passet. It is original colour (not colourised).
