Interesting discussion! I would just like to highlight that to look at an Autoglyph (even if just in hieroglyphic ASCII form) requires *only* Ethereum, no commercial web browser or other rendering mechanism.

Understand your point of view, but many of us in the crypto community deeply value open source. Also, we believe that the art itself, and the fact that it was the first of its kind will keep it special, even if many clones come along.

That text is from our 2017 launch, when all existing tokens were ERC20, and ERC721 didn’t exist yet. And indeed, NFT contracts are very similar to ERC20, except each token is unique.
