False. While yes the film's reception was not good by the fans but it was expected by Universal to make another sequel right after the release of JP3, but in the end it became the same mess that it was in the production of JP3, but this time nothing materialized into a movie.
We’re not going to pretend like jp3 didn’t put the franchise on a 14 year old hiatus
