Great analysis here on the future of subsidies for UK biomass. Workers need to be at the forefront of our energy transition and they "...should not be used as a bargaining chip by the company to continue operating a model that fails UK citizens."
The UK imports millions of tonnes of wood from overseas to burn for electricity each year. Since 2012 it has cost UK billpayers billions to subsidise this. Ahead of a gov decision on whether to extend subsidies, I write on the political risks of subsidising biomass for Labour.
