OVERCOMING THE ODDS: Shane Messenger was born with hearing loss in both ears. Doctors told his family he could never play contact sports, due to risk of going deaf if tackled. He took up kicking (less risk of tackling) and is now a kicker at St. John's College HS @nbcwashington

I’m so extremely blessed to be surrounded by great coaches. I lost my father but I gained my best friend my brother and my road dog. Love you Mike. Dad, Pop Pop are smiling down today. Couldn’t be prouder to be a Johnny.
Extremely proud of my brother. Love him more than anything in this world. He is the right man for this job, not only do I get to do what I love. But I also get to do it with my best friend.
