If you loved Everquest, you need to keep an eye on @MnM_MMO . I don't play games anymore, but I sure love making them, and watching the team's progress has been exciting.

@EmeryPA The barrier to creating CRUD apps or cobbling together AI apis has been lowered, for sure, but there is a huge amount of opportunity in more difficult spaces. Your typical "developer" has no idea what it takes to program the hard stuff.

@g_engineering_ @LubaRaphael @Jonathan_Blow I can't wait to dive in. I recently joined the beta, and I've been loving the language. It is such a breath of fresh air.

@Sneslix Assuming you've been locked in and working hard -- no. Much of my time is spent building and rebuilding while learning the edges of the problem I'm solving. Just work hard and trust the process. The only way to move faster is if it's a problem I've solved before.

@ThePrimeagen Pro tip: mix a little cold wine with ice cold sparkling water. I enjoy the taste, too, but didn't like the effects.

Lately I've been enjoying various "ambience" videos while I work. I use a second monitor and put something on full screen. My latest favorites are scenic train rides through Europe or walking tours of country villages in Japan.
working at cafés is overrated it's uncomfortable, loud, and often expensive i'm much better off working at home convince me otherwise...

Harsh truth about CRUD apps, and developers that build them -- It's hard to grow beyond it when so much of your day is doing this type of work -- it's really hard to get the time to practice anything else. Over the years I've gravitated to more server-side work, cryptography, and security, because I find that more interesting and it's easier to work into my job, but it still doesn't get me as low-level as I would like to be. That sort of work only happens in my free time.
